7 Things Rottweilers Love With All Their Heart And Soul

7 Things Rottweilers Love With All Their Heart And Soul

Despite popular opinion, Rottweilers are very lovable and affectionate dogs. If you are planning to adopt this breed of dog, you will want to get familiar with things Rottweilers love the most.

By doing this, you will know exactly what makes your furry baby happy, and thus, provide him with a fulfilling and happy life. I know from experience that all dog owners have only one wish for their pets – to welcome every day with wagging tails and big smiles.

Canine happiness is all about feeling safe, loved, pain-free, and being occupied. Your duty as a responsible pet owner is to make sure that they have all that provided.

That being said, let’s jump to seven things Rottweilers love with all their heart and soul!

What Makes Your Rottweiler Happy?

All dogs are different, of course. They have their own personalities and things they like; however, there are some things that almost all Rottweilers have in common.

#1. Rottie Loves YOU

Rottweilers are very loyal and protective dogs, and if I could mention only one thing on this list, it would definitely be that your Rottweiler loves YOU.

These dogs were bred to be guard dogs, and their priority is always their family. Even though they are a pretty big and muscular dog breed, they’re still sensitive pooches deep down

Rotties make a strong bond with their owner, and they tend to adore this person for the rest of their life.

It is very common for this breed to be extremely clingy and follow their owner whenever they go, even to the bathroom. You can pretty much forget about personal space with these dogs because they’ll not only be your best friend, but also your shadow.

#2. Rottie Loves ATTENTION

Rottweilers love attention, and they need a lot of it – much more than some other dog breeds. They will want to always be by your side, and somehow be a part of everything that is going around.

Oh, and they can be pretty jealous… of your phone, of other people, and everything else that might be stealing your attention…

When it comes to taking care of them, they also require a lot of physical and mental stimulation to keep them happy and healthy. According to the American Kennel Club (AKC), Rottweilers need at least two hours of various exercise per day.

If your pup does not get enough exercise, he can easily become aggressive, destructive, stressed, and depressive.

#3. Rottie Loves SNUGGLES AND BELLY RUBS

Oh… to have a dog that loves you and loves cuddling with you. A dream come true, right?

Rotties love belly rubs, and they love to snuggle. The only problem is that they often forget (or they don’t even realize) that they’re not exactly a toy breed of dog. A 100-pound dog flopping on you is not always a fun experience, but who can resist that cute and adorable face.

These pups might be gentle souls in a lot of aspects, but they do not trust everyone. They will cuddle only… and only with people they trust and feel safe with.

For most species, their belly is the most sensitive part of their body, so if your Rottweiler allows you to rub his belly, it means that he completely trusts you, and that you’re definitely his person.

#4. Rottie Loves To WORK

Rottweilers are robust workers, and they are simply the happiest when they have something to do. Why is that so?

If we look back at the beginning of the breed and what these dogs were bred to be in the first place, we can see that they are actually descendants of one of the oldest canine breeds in the whole world, Roman drover dogs, which were used for various purposes.

This working gene was passed down from generation to generation, and even Rottweilers today need a “job” of some sort whether it is training, exercising, or simply playing.

Rottweilers are agile workers, and they do extremely well in most dog sports; however, they are exceptionally good at one thing, and that is guarding. They are powerful, intimidating, loyal, and have a natural guarding instinct.

If they don’t have anything to do or if they are bored, there is a high possibility that they will become aggressive and destructive, and with dogs of their power and size, this can be very serious.

#5. Rottie Loves FOOD

Most dog breeds are very food oriented, and Rottweilers are definitely one of them. If there is one thing that they might love more than you, it has to be their food and their yummy treats

The AKC has a list of the top 10 dog breeds that love to eat, or famously known as the “chowhound” list, and to no one’s surprise, the Rottweiler dog breed has its place secured.

They might have large appetites, but you shouldn’t allow them to eat whenever they want. They need a healthy diet in order to stay active and athletic, and if you are not careful enough about their feeding habits, they can easily become overweight or obese

According to the Rottweiler feeding chart, an adult Rottie should eat twice a day – approximately four to six cups of food, depending on his activity level, gender, and build.

#6. Rottie Loves TOYS

Rottweilers are generally playful, silly, and affectionate, which means that they especially love lots of playtime filled with different activities and various kinds of toys.

Like most dogs out there, Rotties need some mental stimulation, and toys are the perfect way to achieve it. Toys challenge their problem-solving skills, help them cope with separation anxiety, help curb their destructive instincts, and are also physically engaging

Rottweilers can be very aggressive chewers, especially as puppies, so it is very important to choose the right kind of toys, especially durable and entertaining ones.

A lot of dogs have their favorite toy that they like to bring with them everywhere. These toys are called comfort toys because they help them cope with stress and anxious feelings.

#7. Rottie Loves His WALKIES

Lastly, Rottweilers love to go outside with their owner to play or go for a walk. Being outdoors is very good for these pups because they get a chance to do some physical exercise, socialize, and sniff all those different smells.

A big, fenced yard would be perfect for these dogs because they would have the opportunity to get out more often, which is very important for active dogs such as Rotties. Nevertheless, regular walkies are not something that you should skip as a Rottie owner.

These dogs do pretty well in all kinds of weather conditions, and they are very comfortable with cooler temperatures and snow, but you should be very careful in hotter climates because of overheating.

Rottweilers are ideal candidates for hiking routes because of their endurance and activity levels. New smells, fresh air, new places to mark and see, new sounds… there is nothing better for dogs, and they LOVE IT.

Love Makes The World Spin Around

Without love, the world would be pointless. Things that we love and that we are passionate about make us who we are, and give us enormous value. They also make us happy and fulfill our day in the best way possible.

These seven things Rottweilers love with all their heart and soul are a staple in their life. It is what makes them happy, what puts a smile on their face, and what makes their tail wag like crazy, and I am sure that there is nothing better than seeing your beloved pup as happy as ever.

If someone asked me what the things that I love are, although technically, it is not a “thing”, my dog (and also, my cat) would 100% be on my list.

They make me happy. When I wake up in the morning, my day doesn’t start properly until I see their happy little face, and there is nothing that I wouldn’t do to make them happy.

Is there something that your Rottweiler loves and cannot live without, but we didn’t include it on our list? Do tell in the comments, please!
