Inside A Boarded-Up Missouri House, Rescuers Hear From A Mother Who Has Almost Nothing Left

Inside a boarded-up house in St. Louis, Missouri, a frightened Pittie mother tried to create a safe place for her newborn puppies.

The building was completely dark, with no food, no water, and none of the comfort or protection she desperately needed. Still, exhausted and alone, she kept caring for her babies with everything she had.

She had searched frantically for somewhere secure to give birth, guided by the powerful instinct to protect her little ones. Instead, she ended up in a place that could never truly keep them safe.

By the time rescuers reached her, she was utterly worn out, but she had continued doing all she could for her puppies until help arrived just in time.

Rescue Team Arrives To Help

Stray Rescue of St. Louis received word about a Pittie hiding inside an abandoned house with her litter. Volunteers Natalie and Donna, both experienced in countless rescue missions, rushed to the location.

They called out softly and offered snacks, hoping to coax her out. At last, a thin little head appeared from beneath an old mattress. Starving and frail, she still had enough strength to reach for the treats.

Once she cautiously stepped forward, Natalie and Donna gently lifted her into their jeep. Then came the next task: retrieving her hidden treasure, the puppies.

Safe At Last

Despite the freezing darkness, the volunteers carefully pulled each puppy from the hiding spot. In total, six babies were alive, while one tiny angel had already crossed the rainbow bridge.

Stray Rescue of St. Louis shared:

“One mama, 6 babies, and another one who had crossed the rainbow bridge. They were living in this pitch black, very cold, boarded up house. She was so hungry and thirsty, and her little babies have skin infections. But, they are all safe now, thank God.”

The puppies were in good condition aside from minor skin issues.

“Mom actually did a super job with these puppies. For as thin as she was, puppies were all chunky and happy,” Donna explained.

The pups were placed safely in a crate beside their mama in the jeep, ready to begin a new chapter together.

Vicky Veggie’s Gentle Spirit

The Pittie mom, later named Vicky Veggie, showed sweetness and trust from the very beginning.

Unlike many stray mothers who instinctively guard their litters, she displayed no aggression. It seemed as though she immediately understood that the rescuers were there to help, not harm.

With her puppies secure, the family was brought to safety and given the care they desperately needed.

When the puppies were finally weaned, Vicky Veggie transitioned into a foster home, beginning her own journey toward a permanent family. The little ones remained behind for a longer period so they could complete treatment for their skin infections before being adopted into homes filled with love.

From Abandoned House To Forever Home

After spending several months in foster care, Vicky Veggie’s big moment finally arrived. She was adopted into a family that welcomed her warmly, showering her with affection. She quickly blossomed into the joyful companion she was always meant to be.

“Vicky Veggie is adopted into the most loving family in the world. They give her all the hugs and snuggles she’s been dreaming of. Congratulations, sweet girl… we couldn’t be happier for you,” Stray Rescue shared on Facebook.

Vicky Veggie’s story spans from a life of struggle in a deserted house to joy in a forever home, and it’s a testament to a mother’s devotion and the transformative power of compassion.
