In the middle of the road, a mysterious creature was lying helplessly. It was obvious that this poor animal needed help, but cars were still speeding past it and no one wanted…
When you save a stray dog from the streets, you literally change his entire life. It’s one thing they always hope for. In shelters, they get food, shelter, and kind people who care for them on a daily basis. But, this is not a permanent solution. These pups still want something more. They are waiting…
Seeing abandoned puppies on the street is always a heartwrenching thing to see. At least some of the older puppies have a better chance of being adopted. What can a newborn puppy do? Not much, really, and that’s why it always hurts more seeing puppies struggle to survive on their own. The people who leave…
For most of us, heading to work isn’t exactly thrilling – unless your job involves jumping out of planes every day. For the rest of us, it’s usually just early mornings, traffic jams, and the occasional coffee and breakfast stop. Believe it or not, pastors aren’t much different. Their routines may include prayer instead of…
Some people are sent to the right place at the right time for a reason, and Eddy would definitely agree if he could speak! Unfortunately, all he can do is give a heartwarming look and wag his tail in an affirmative manner, but that’s probably enough to confirm his story! This poor little pup was…
No matter how neglectful and poorly thought out it may appear at times, dog owners sometimes have no choice but to resort to abandonment. For reasons none of us can explain, these four-legged furballs end up losing their beloved home (and hoomans) in the blink of an eye, often through no fault of their own…
A warm heart and a handful of kind words were all that an injured dog was searching for as he wandered around a Texas neighborhood. Scared and soaking wet, he looked around the residential homes, hoping to finally meet someone who could lend him a helping hand. Although he became more exhausted and miserable as…
When Mario’s family dropped him off at Animal Friends of the Valleys, a shelter in Wildomar, California, he refused to believe that they rejected him. The sweet Labrador Retriever and Pit Bull mix thought that it was just a nightmare and that he would soon wake up next to his favorite humans. You can imagine…
When it comes to toys, they are probably your dog’s second-best friend, as it’s something that makes them really happy. I remember getting the first plushie toy for my pup, and he was so delighted that he would play with it all the time. They are really not that complex. Simple things are more than…
Losing your dog can be one of the most stressful situations in life. Anyone who has gone through this knows what I am talking about. It’s a mix of confusion, fear, and hope, all at the same time. You are never sure if they just went on their own for a stroll or if they…
Let’s be honest… who hasn’t pretended to be under the weather at least once in their lifetime, right? Maybe to skip a boring class or to avoid an unpleasant social gathering? Or, in Rambo’s case – to be likeable and earn a forever home! Wait, what!? That’s right! In this case, a Great Pyrenees is…
When Natalie Therese and her partner were driving back home from a small getaway by the Columbia River, in Washington, something strange caught their eye. Through the mist, they saw something that looked like a furry clump in the middle of the road. Rescue Mission Natalie decided that they needed to stop and investigate. “I…
My dog is special to me regardless of breed, and I know that every dog owner feels the same. We live with them, share memories, take exciting trips, meet new people, and basically do every single thing together. Their (mixed) breed doesn’t lessen their value, although some owners may have a preference for certain breeds…
While driving in a rural area in Elloree, South Carolina, a couple noticed a snake crossing the road and slowed down right away. Moments later, from the corner of their eyes, they saw a pair of ears sticking above the grass on the side of the road. The good humans screeched to a stop and…
As the couple hiked in the California woods, slowly approaching its depth, little did they know that an adorable surprise awaited them. While they were walking, they suddenly heard a strange noise coming from the creek, so they decided to check what it was. Once they reached the creek, they were surprised to see a…
When people choose a dog they want to adopt, one of the most important factors in the selection is the breed. In fact, I would argue that most people are very specific about that one demand. I am not much different. I like German Shepherds, Labradors, and Golden Retrievers. However, I wouldn’t mind adopting any…
I have never quite seen something as depressing as a dog who was abandoned begging for food on the street. First, it’s tragic that they ended up in that situation to begin with. They’re likely confused and disoriented. The realization that they were dumped slowly starts setting in. Many realized that they need to start…
We have all likely experienced our dogs behaving naughty at some point in our lives. I feel like they like to do it on purpose sometimes, but they can also accidentally mess up. It’s important not to take it seriously. That is what makes life with them so special. You never know what is in…
Bennie and Jett, two almost identical-looking doggy brothers, were betrayed by humans who dumped them near a church. How does a relaxing bath sound after a long, exhausting day? Perfect, if you ask me. And, perfect, if you ask Nicole, a proud Pug owner from California. And, perfect, if you ask Peach, the Pug! I’m not kidding. While some dogs hate baths, Peach seems to love them. In fact, she loves them so…
Some dogs who used to have a home end up in shelters through no fault of their own. Their families left the dogs at a shelter and said their last goodbye to them, leaving them confused. Mochi, a sweet and quiet Pit Bull, experienced that loss and found himself behind the four walls of a…
One of the things every rescuer wants more than anything is to make sure every dog finds a forever home as quickly as possible. Until that happens, they usually try to make these pups feel comfortable in the shelter by giving them food, cuddles, walks, and a warm spot for sleeping. Occasionally, this helps dogs…
Having a dog who is in his senior year is no easy task. Taking care of them can get difficult because of all the problems that come with age. They could get digestion problems, hearing loss, or even lose their sight. While it’s terrifying knowing that your pup will have to face this, it’s comforting…

All dogs need loving humans who would dote on them and give them love. Sadly, countless dogs never get the chance to feel loved because they live in abusive homes. Ziggy was one of those dogs who was mistreated and neglected. She had a big heart, but she never received affection from her owners. Fortunately,…
We all know that dogs can sometimes get a little jealous when we give someone else attention over them. It’s natural for them to feel that way. After all, they are territorial animals and they want to always be near us. In fact, when we are gone for a prolonged period, it’s not uncommon for…
We’ve all read the stories. One fortunate pup is abandoned by their owner after their human realized they don’t want them anymore. Or even worse, their owner decided to send them back to the shelter after only a few days for very vague reasons. The stories are endless. Each of them is heartbreaking because you…
When a Good Samaritan heard some strange noises coming from a dumpster, it didn’t take them long to realize that those were actually the cries of a dog in need. They immediately contacted Tullahoma Animal Shelter and informed them of the situation. Two rescuers, David Reed and Chris Cabral, immediately headed to the location. As…
I will never cease to be amazed by police dogs. Despite their exceptional trainability, there’s just something so humane about their service that embodies loyalty and love at its finest. They serve, protect, assist with complex missions every day – all with a wagging tail and a smile on their faces. And, when it’s their…

One thing about living in the suburbs is that life can be really predictable and ordinary, while other times, it’s shocking and surprising, but in a fun way. As someone who lived in the suburbs for a long time, I have to say that it was quite the experience. Being an animal lover myself, I…
The greatest gift a dog rescuer can receive is seeing a dog they saved blossom into a brand-new pup. The satisfaction of knowing that a pup has received the chance for a new start just can’t be compared to anything! For rescuers at the Utah shelter, that moment arrived after saving eighteen severely neglected and…
Dog owners who dump their dogs don’t care about what happens to them next, nor do they feel the slightest sting of regret for betraying the most loyal creatures. They never think about how frightened and lost the dogs feel when they realize that they are left all alone and that they have to fend…

I’ve always loved the saying “A dog recognizes its owner from a mile away,” finding it truly endearing. Recently, I remembered it again when I witnessed Chloe, an adorable Florida Chihuahua, embody this sentence in the sweetest way ever. One day, Chloe’s owner, Jessica Barrera, decided to put her dog to the test on a…
As proud dog owners, we all know that there is nothing our pups love doing more than curling up right next to us and enjoying a good nap. Next to playing and going for walks, I think this is one of their favorite activities. And, I think it’s safe to say that it’s also one…
We all like to see happy pups spending time with their beloved people. At the same time, our hearts break when we see neglected or abandoned dogs. Unfortunately, the latter is something that we, true dog lovers, witness much more often and that is definitely a sad reality. One day, a pastor in front of…

It’s always heartwarming to see a shelter dog’s reaction when one of the staff or volunteers takes them out to play. They usually enjoy a good walk or even an entire day out filled with many fun activities. Small stuff like this can make their life in the shelter bearable. However, sometimes, gestures like this…

Many people consider their dogs to be family members, but not all of them appear to think that way. Abandoning your pet is cruel, but having your two dogs (very happy and healthy dogs) euthanized because of a mere inconvenience is a whole new level of cruelty. They Lived With Him For 10 Years A…
