For rescuers, that moment carries just as much weight….
It is never fair to understand a situation only by what it looks like from the outside, and that is especially true when a dog owner may be going through something difficult. If Rukey had a voice, she would probably say the same thing, even after everything she went through. Found abandoned in a Michigan…
It is painful to think about how many dogs are failed by the very people who were supposed to protect them. If every pup received the kindness and care they deserved, none of them would ever know what it feels like to be left behind. Sadly, far too many dogs like Ruby, who wanted nothing…

Not every animal rescue starts with a shelter worker or a volunteer racing into action. Sometimes, the people who answer the call are local police officers, which is exactly how one unexpected little adventure began in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. Officers were asked to check on a dog who had been wandering the streets by himself….
Rescue work is rarely neat or predictable. It asks people to keep trying when an animal is scared, the situation is messy, and every simple step turns into something harder than expected.
