You never know when you’re about to discover something extraordinary. But as a dog rescuer, you’re always one step closer to unexpected surprises.
Recently, rescuers in Kansas stumbled upon a shocking scene after hearing loud cries coming from a concrete storm drain in an open field. They rushed to see what the cries were about, only to discover an entire family of furry babies hiding inside the drain.
Six Furry Babies Hiding Inside

The cries were coming from the field near the Kansas Humane Society’s Murfin Animal Care Campus. Wasting no time, Taylor, the director of animal operations, and her two colleagues, Sophie and Tiffany, rushed to the scene.
What they found only minutes later was truly heartbreaking.
Six tiny puppies that had been dumped earlier were hiding inside the drain. They were about three months old, with no mom in sight.

Taylor, Sophie, and Tiffany knew this rescue mission might take some time, given the puppies’ situation. They spent a few hours luring them out with tasty treats, hoping to get every single one of them safely.
Before long, all six of them were safe and sound inside their car.
“Our Director of Animal Operations, Taylor, Veterinary Assistant, Sophie, and Animal Care Supervisor, Tiffany, spent the morning luring the puppies from the storm drain. They eventually got them all out safely and into a car,” Kansas Humane Society shared on Facebook.

The rescuers brought the puppies to Wichita Animal Services for mandatory stray hold. Then, the puppies underwent spay and neuter surgeries at the KHS facility.
After receiving the much-needed care and love, these furry babies started to show their true personalities. Turns out, all of them were wiggly and eager to socialize.
“They’re about 3 months old, and we predict they’ll weigh over 44 lbs when fully grown. Meet Abby, Ellie, Greg, Lev, Mike, and Tommy! They LOVE people, their entire bodies become wiggly with tail wags when you pet them,” the Kansas rescue added.

It didn’t take long for the pups to become a total hit. They immediately captivated everyone’s attention, both in the facility and on social media.
In a heartwarming plea on Facebook, the KHS team explained the puppies’ situation, stating that they are finally ready to meet their forever families.
“These poor pups had a rough start in life, and now they need forever homes! They’re still young with lots to learn, and are looking for caring adopters with the time to train, play with, and snuggle them,” KHS wrote.
What happened next was truly amazing!
A Heartwarming Update Just Two 48 Hours Later

It only took two days for these six babies to find their forever families.
After the Facebook plea, the rescue’s inbox was flooded with applications. Eventually, Ellie, Greg, Mike, Abby, Lev, and Tommy went into great homes, starting a fresh life chapter with their new families.

Finally safe and loved, the puppies are on their way to learning all about life in a cozy home.
The puppies’ new journey is just around the corner, and it’s safe to say that they couldn’t be more excited about it.
