A warm heart and a handful of kind words were all that an injured dog was searching for as he wandered around a Texas neighborhood.
Scared and soaking wet, he looked around the residential homes, hoping to finally meet someone who could lend him a helping hand.
Although he became more exhausted and miserable as days passed, his hope never wavered. He continued roaming around, firmly believing that he would get a chance to start over.
Will anyone notice him and offer him the help that he desperately needs?
Meeting Kind Humans

Danielle Huset, a Texas resident, saw the dog, later named Buddy, as he wandered around her neighborhood. She could tell that he was injured and that he needed help.
At first, she thought that the pup was lost and she wanted to help him return to his family.
Huset spread the word about Buddy, hoping that someone might know something about his owners. She posted his photo and information online and on different Facebook groups for missing dogs, but to no avail.
She asked around the neighborhood and even knocked on her neighbors’ doors, but unfortunately, nobody knew anything about Buddy’s backstory.
One of her neighbors told her that they had seen the doggo several days ago.

Buddy’s story resonated with people online, and some of them offered to help him.
Huset didn’t want to leave Buddy, and she kept him company. She gave him food and water and sat with him outside for hours.

The dog was grateful and trusting. He rolled over on his back and asked for belly rubs.
The kind woman snuggled with him and left the garage door open that night so that Buddy could enter, but he preferred staying outside and lying on the grass.
In order to increase his chances of finding a rescue and a forever home, Huset shared his video on TikTok, where it garnered a lot of attention.
In the morning when she woke up, she looked for Buddy and discovered that he had wandered away. Later on, Huset learned that someone had found him and driven him to a shelter.
Hoping To Meet A Forever Family

The giant-hearted woman couldn’t stop thinking about the pup, and she decided to foster him if he hadn’t found a home by April 27th of 2025.
However, when Huset went to the shelter, she found out that Long Way Home Adoptables, a rescue in Bryan, Texas, took him under their care and promised to help him change his life and find happiness.
The rescue found him a great foster who came to the shelter, picked Buddy up, and took him home.

His foster parent showered him with love and attention, and the doggo adjusted well. Buddy has a big smile on his face, and he already seems like a different dog.
Buddy gets along with other dogs and kids. He feels hopeful that he will soon meet humans who will cherish him and love him immensely.
