They reached out to Donna from Stray Rescue of St. Louis, Missouri, who had been working tirelessly to bring the frightened pup to safety.
Earning Trust One Day at a Time
Donna knew immediately that Lumi had been fending for herself on the streets for quite some time.
The dog’s survival instincts were on high alert, and she would literally not let anyone get anywhere close to her.
Traditional rescue methods simply weren’t working for this deeply traumatized animal.
“She wasn’t gonna go in a trap,” Donna recalled. “Didn’t wanna have anything to do with me.”
A Patient Daily Routine

She established a daily routine, returning to Lumi’s territory every single day to provide her with food.
