Looking at all the countless animals roaming the streets truly breaks my heart. But then, I remember that there are good people in this world who still do their best to help animals every day, and that makes me feel hopeful. When one pup was abandoned at a local mall, he went through unimaginable pain….

When talking about rescuers, we typically think of dog and cat rescuers. And, that is normal. We mostly hear about these stories. But, what surprised me was to find out just how many other sanctuaries are out there and the fact that they focus on saving different groups of animals, not just dogs and cats….

One of the things that we love most about dogs is their simplicity in everything. They don’t need much to be happy. They just want to spend time with us, whether it’s napping, going for a walk, or playing in the park. There is no real need to complicate things when you are with them….

When a kind lady and volunteer at Farm To Able, an animal sanctuary in Blue Springs, Missouri, spotted a little puppy tied to a kennel in the middle of a highway, she sprang into action. She untied him and carried him to her car.  The pup, later named Sullivan, was relieved because a good soul…

Some dogs need time to adjust to new life circumstances, such as a change in their environment or the addition of a new family member. Others, like Kendall, are simply natural! When her owners first brought home their new baby, Kendall immediately went into nanny mode, embracing her brother with an open heart. Soon after,…

As a park ranger, you discover many fascinating sights along the way. And, to be honest, some truly shocking ones! Recently, Tyler Bank, a park ranger from Oregon, stumbled upon something quite unusual. He was patrolling Cove Palisades State Park when a strange sight caught his attention.  A big ball of brown fur was curled…

The world would be a better place if it were run by animal lovers, no doubt! Just imagine having qualities such as compassion, kindness, and empathy as your lead drive. The possibilities are endless! One toddler’s gesture caught on camera in Texas definitely confirms my theory.  Upon seeing his furry bud, a thirteen-year-old dog named…

The heartbreak of losing a pet, even for a few hours, is unimaginable. So, when a New York owner realized his Golden Retriever was missing on a cold winter day, he immediately sprang into action. He searched high and low after Carmal, the dog, had gotten out of her lead and vanished into the woods….

A brave mother dog fought to keep her five little furbabies alive after they were abandoned in the jungle on Saipan. The mother dog was deeply worried for her children. When homeowners spotted two German Shepherd puppies cowering under the porch of their home in Cokato, Minnesota, they were both shocked and heartbroken. They knew that the hopeless pups were looking for shelter since a blast of cold air brought freezing temperatures to their region. It wasn’t the first time the homeowners saw these pups….

Many unfortunate dogs have to go through their hardest life moments alone. Just a little comfort from someone can do wonders for these creatures’ well-being, but many of them don’t have the chance to experience even that.  That is why some of them find solace in objects, most often toys, that have symbolic value. After…

Children and dogs are probably the most honest beings in the world. Young ones are not yet spoiled by everyday life, and canines are simply like that – full of sincere love, especially for their favorite people.  Now, imagine when these two souls come together how a beautiful situation can arise. Well, believe it or…

Puppies enter the world in order to be immeasurably loved and treasured, but sadly, they sometimes end up in the hands of merciless people. Jennings was the sweetest puppy who deserved to be adored, and yet, instead of love, she experienced heartbreak and trauma. Her cruel owner locked the pup in a wire crate and…

If there is one thing no one is prepared for when adopting dogs, it’s actually taking care of them. I know, it sounds quite crazy. How can someone not be ready for this kind of responsibility? Usually, it’s because taking in a small puppy comes with all sorts of problems that need to be addressed….

It’s hard to be overlooked, especially for a shelter dog. Picture it: you constantly watch your buddies walking out that door and never coming back, asking yourself: “Where have they gone?” Then, you spend months next to your kennel window, scanning all those strange people coming to the shelter and always passing by you. How…

Every single day spent in a shelter is torture for a dog. No matter how pet-friendly the shelter may be, it is not the right place for a creature whose need for love and warm hugs from their favorite person is almost as essential as food and water. Now, imagine the overwhelming despair of a…

The pooch looked around and observed the passers-by in hopes of recognizing the…

We’ve spoken many times about how dogs are just the best companions for humans and how perfect they are at reading our emotions. They can always sense when we need them and they are there for us. They will comfort us and that always makes us feel better by the end of the day. Now,…

If nightmares were actual life, it would definitely be Buddy’s. Even though he is still a puppy at just one year of age, Buddy has already been through so much. This poor Great Dane mix was found roaming the streets of Texas, far from a decent life. When finally found and offered a warm and…

As someone who was a proud dog owner once, I have to say that losing my pup has caused me immense heartbreak. Anyone who has owned a dog has likely experienced this at some point. Even though it seems like the pain will never end, time heals all wounds. Some people recover, but never adopt…

Normally, we consider our dogs to be cherished members of our families, but I guess not all people feel that way.  The unfortunate truth is that many dogs face heartless abandonment in the most inhumane and cruel ways without any regard to the profound impact such abandonment can have on those innocent animals.  Imagine what…

Sometimes, we hoomans tend to forget that animals who grew up on the streets need some time to get used to their new lifestyle. Letting go of all those hardships they faced isn’t easy so they depend on us to give them the space they need to decompress and relax. This may take them a…

In many rescue stories, abandonment is something that a lot of dogs and small puppies have to deal with. Reading through them would make you believe that the world is a horrible place. I always like to emphasize the fact that even though these things happen because of uncaring owners, there are still a lot…

When talking about shelter dogs, most people are often optimistic about the prospects of a pup finding a home thanks to his beloved rescuers. But, that is not often the reality. Even though I am sure most shelter staff do their best to find them a new family, sometimes it’s just hard to find a…

It saddens me to imagine how sad Jones felt as he watched the other shelter residents leave the shelter with their new parents while he continued waiting for his turn. In all my years of helping stray dogs, I have learned a valuable lesson: timing is everything! Many homeless canines live on the edge, sometimes just hours away from the inevitable, which makes the job of a rescuer even more difficult. That’s why when it comes to life-saving missions, every second matters! The dedicated team…

Goodbyes are really hard. When you love someone, it doesn’t matter if you part ways for a week, two weeks, a month, or even a year – the feeling of emptiness is essentially the same. For dogs, saying goodbye to their owners is just the tip of the iceberg.  Unaware that they are seeing their…
