For one mother dog in Missouri, that meant seeking refuge inside a freezing, abandoned house.
She had a litter of puppies depending on her for warmth and survival.

Entering The Cold Room
Donna arrived at the derelict property and carefully made her way inside.
She soon located the room where the small family was hiding.
The mother dog was huddled with her babies, doing her best to shield them from the cold.
Donna approached slowly, speaking in a soft, reassuring tone.
A Protective Mother
“Your babies down there?” Donna asked gently.
She offered the frightened dog a comforting promise: “How about we take you and your babies to a nice warm place?”
But the mother dog was terrified and naturally protective of her little ones.
She began growling, unsure if this stranger was a friend or a threat.
Building Trust With Food

“C’mon! We got your puppies. Go on!” she called out to reassure the mother.
The entire family was safely loaded up for transport.
They left the freezing, abandoned house behind and headed straight to the shelter.
