California Dog Found In A Rooftop Shopping Cart Had A Mystery Nobody Could Explain

California Dog Found In A Rooftop Shopping Cart Had A Mystery Nobody Could Explain

After hearing so many stories about dogs being left in terrible situations, it can start to feel like nothing could still be surprising.

Then a case comes along that proves otherwise.

Some situations are so cruel, so strange, and so hard to understand that they almost do not seem real. They make you wonder how a dog could have stood any chance at all if the right person had not noticed in time.

That is what happened in California.

A dog was found sitting by herself inside a shopping cart on a rooftop above the street. There were no barriers around her, nothing there to keep her safely away from the edge.

One wrong move could have gone horribly wrong.

Thankfully, a security guard saw her before it was too late and acted right away.

When security guard Joey Tuccio noticed a dog stranded on the rooftop, he immediately contacted a nonprofit organization called Starts with One Today

They responded promptly and arrived to assist in the rescue.

Tuccio shared with People:“Paris was found abandoned in a shopping cart on top of a roof of a building on Skid Row a week ago. We teamed up with Wild Horizon Rescue to cover the cost of her vetting, and a friend of mine is now fostering Paris.”

The most devastating part of Paris’ experience was the likely hours she spent alone on that open rooftop with no food or water. It must have been a hopeless and terrifying time for her.

Before heading to her foster home, Tuccio took her to a veterinary clinic in California for a thorough checkup.

Thankfully, Paris was in good health, with the exception of some conjunctivitis. No microchip was found either.

Finding Care And Comfort

Tuccio noted, “We don’t know how she ended up on the roof. Sadly, many unhoused people in Skid Row are dealing with drug addiction, which sometimes leads them to abandon their dogs for extended periods. We often find dogs like Paris, and we work to find them new homes.”

Once in her foster home, Paris quickly realized she was in a place where people cared about her well-being. It didn’t take long for her to relax and feel secure.

Tuccio remains hopeful that Paris will eventually find a forever home, though the process may take some time. He is thankful that she is now in the care of a foster family.

He added, “An ideal adopter is someone who doesn’t work 8-hour days away from home, lives in Los Angeles, and is ready to spoil her. She could thrive in a home with other dogs or as the only dog.”

Tuccio hopes Paris’ story will inspire others to adopt dogs in need. Each adoption has the potential to change a life, and in some cases, save one.

The problem of abandoned dogs in California is still significant, and more support is urgently needed.
