It breaks my heart to think about the cruelty some dogs endure at the hands of their owners who were supposed to give them love and care.
Instead, they neglect them and leave them in dangerous situations. These dogs feel miserable and they suffer as they try to survive on their own.
Daisy, a young Goldendoodle, experienced such neglect firsthand. Her owner put her precious life in jeopardy and failed to give her the basic things she needed. Without food and proper care, Daisy became weak and malnourished.
The pup wasn’t alone in her plight. Her sibling was right beside her. Both dogs suffered and didn’t have much time left.
Discovering A Dog In Distress

While Summer Ipock was scrolling through a lost-and-found dog group on Facebook, she saw a post that made her heart sink.
A woman, living in Tulsa, Oklahoma, explained that her neighbor had been neglecting his dogs for days.
Unfortunately, one of the dogs had crossed the rainbow bridge, and the other, Daisy, was neglected and suffering.
Although local authorities had been contacted, no help came.
Animal control could not reach the owner, and the police couldn’t act. That’s why the woman turned to social media, hoping the right person would see it and act.
That person was Ipock.
“Even though [the dog] Daisy was in terrible condition, I could tell it was a doodle — that I obviously have a soft spot for — and I couldn’t stop thinking about it,” Ipock told PEOPLE.
Ipock decided to investigate the matter herself, determined to save Daisy.
She located the home, confirmed the address, and discovered that the people living there were renters. She attempted to reach out to the landlords, but received no response.
When Ipock contacted animal control, she found out that the officials instructed the dogs’ owner to take both pups to a vet and said they would follow up the next day.
However, no one had come by lunchtime.
The neighbor noticed that locks had been added to the gates and a dog house placed outside.
Ipock considered those signs extremely alarming. She was worried that Daisy wouldn’t survive if they decided to wait for animal control.
It was raining heavily that weekend, and the makeshift dog house indicated that the neglected dog would be exposed to the elements.
Acting To Save Daisy

Ipock was desperate to save Daisy as soon as possible, so she offered the owner $500 to surrender her.
She asked a friend who is a local police officer to handle the exchange. To her surprise, the owner was cooperative, and they surrendered Daisy without resistance.

When Ipock saw the pup in person, she became fully aware of the severity of her condition. She was almost hairless except for some fur on her face and strands on her legs.
Daisy’s skin was uneven in color and it was flaking. Her ribs and spine were sticking out.
She had been shaved to free her from tangled mats.
Although Daisy endured trauma, she sought attention and affection immediately.

She took Daisy to a vet for an emergency exam. Tests showed that the pup was fighting hookworms, increased white blood cell count, a skin infection, light anemia, and fleas.
Daisy received dewormer, antibiotics, flea treatment, and a bath. The pup did great at the vet and staff praised her for being cooperative throughout.
The sweet dog underwent a spaying procedure and had her ears treated and cleaned. Vets determined that Daisy was two years old. It didn’t take long for her to settle into Ipock’s home and bond with the other dogs.
Daisy got attached to Ipock and wanted to spend as much time as possible next to her. She made friends with Ipock’s two dogs and played with them.

Thanks to proper nutrition and wonderful care, Daisy started getting better.
Ipock was moved by Daisy’s endearing personality.
“In general, I am just blown away that [Daisy] has such a loving and fun personality when she hasn’t had the best hand dealt to her and would have every reason to be a shut-down pup. She’s beyond resilient and has so much love to give every single person she meets.”
Although Ipock cannot adopt Daisy due to her own two dogs, she has found a family willing to give Daisy a forever home.

“I know Daisy will love her new mom and/or dad as much, if not more than me. I will make sure, no matter what, that Daisy is set up for success and has the best new home when that time comes,” Ipock added.
Many thanks to Summer Ipock for rescuing Daisy from a life of neglect and giving her the chance to thrive.
From now on, all that Daisy will know is unconditional love and happiness.
