Talulah’s story isn’t an ordinary one. The moment I saw the photo of this mangy pup for the first time, it grabbed me by the heart. She’s definitely the kind of dog who makes you stop because you can’t quite believe what you’re looking at.
Instead of being a puppy just like any other, Talulah was pink, raw-skinned, and shaking from the pain. She had no fur, but instead had deep wounds across her swollen skin.
And yet, Talulah had the softest eyes. The minute she arrived at the Nevada shelter, she warmed up to rescuers, as if begging for a fresh start. And a fresh start is exactly what she got!
Found In Devastating Shape
Talulah’s story wasn’t an easy one. Upon being admitted to The Animal Foundation in Las Vegas, Nevada, her skin looked inflamed, pink, and painfully exposed.
Almost every inch of her eight-pound body looked like she had suffered for far too long.
“She’s been suffering for far too long. Her tiny, malnourished 8 lb body is cracked, bleeding, and raw. She came to us with severe mange. Talulah has almost no fur. She’s itchy, swollen, and shivering from the pain,” the Nevada rescue shared on Facebook.
Severe mange had stripped nearly all her fur, and her face looked wrinkled and swollen. But even so, Talulah never lost hope.
After an initial examination, this resilient girl was sent to a medical foster home with Amber, a long-time foster who had helped hundreds of dogs in the past. After only a week, her condition was significantly better.
“Talulah is now safe in a wonderful foster home where she’s finally getting the care she desperately needs. She’s getting medicated baths, mousse treatments to soothe her skin, antibiotics to fight the infection, and pain medication to give her some much needed relief,” TAF added.
Under Amber’s care, Talulah began to heal. Her daily routine involved baths, meds, and lots of love. For the first time in her life, Talulah felt the true meaning of love, and she reciprocated.
Each day, her eyes became brighter, and her skin looked better. She slowly started to grow new fur and had less swelling.
In the meantime, Talulah started to learn socialization and enjoy playtime. She could finally run without any pain and enjoy the outside world. Weeks later, her transformation was nothing short of astonishing!
Two Months Later, Talulah Is A Brand-New Dog
Two months after her rescue, Talulah was rewarded with the best outcome possible. She was adopted into a loving family.
To make things even more amazing, her pink, wrinkled shell was completely gone. Talulah, now named Wednesday, had healthy black fur that made her look like a completely different pup.
“Now known as Wednesday, this once tiny, hairless pup is doing incredible in her forever home. Her fur has grown back, her energy is back, and she’s showing off her sassy, playful personality,” TAF wrote in another post.
Wednesday now shares her home with two tortoise siblings and lives the best life possible. She snuggles, does zoomies in her yard, and features all the sass she couldn’t show when she was fighting just to stay alive.
After all the suffering, Wednesday is finally happy!
