California Dog Overlooked For 2 Years And 4 Months Keeps Hoping Someone Will Love Him Back

California Dog Overlooked For 2 Years And 4 Months Keeps Hoping Someone Will Love Him Back

It’s not too hard to recognize the most overlooked dogs at a shelter. A tip? Just walk through one and you’ll see them. A heartbreaking look on their faces. A hopeful tail wag. Heads pressed against the kennel window. Their situation definitely speaks for itself more loudly than words.

But here’s the thing: no matter how long they wait, they still dazzle everyone with their unbreakable spirits, and that’s their biggest asset.

Jack, a senior black Pittie, definitely embodies all this. Due to his “undesirable breed, color, and age, he has all the labels stacked against him.

So far, Jack has spent more than 850 days at the California shelter, yet he still greets everyone with his signature happy dance and a hopeful look. Talk about resilience, right?

“Cards Stacked Against Him”

After more than two years, Jack has become something of a legend at Marley’s Mutts Dog Rescue (MMDR). Sadly, it’s not for the best reason. He has spent all that time waiting for a chance, but so far, no one seems to give him one.

“Jack has been at our Rescue for 2 years and 4 months, waiting for his forever home,” the California rescue wrote in a Facebook post.

In the most recent video, Jack’s caregivers featured his daily routine, showing how truly remarkable this seven-year-old pup is.

The video shows him doing his signature “tap dance” right after waking up, followed by a happy tail wag and a walk around the rescue’s property.

After the walk, Jack proceeds with his day in the yard, playing and enjoying a kiddie pool. But even so, he’s still overlooked by every visitor, and the rescue knows why. He’s a senior, a Pittie, and has black fur. None of these labels are exactly working in his favor.

“We know the cards are stacked against him — he’s a senior, he’s black, he’s a pit bull, and he needs to be the only dog in the home. But for those of us who truly know Jack, we see the dog behind the labels,” MMDR added.

Plus, the fact that Jack must be the only dog in a home makes the pool of adopters grow even smaller.

But the staff can’t help but root for him. They’ve watched him transform from a nervous intake to a dog who dances with excitement, shows his soft side, and befriends literally everyone, and they know it: Jack is a special dog. He just needs someone to understand that.

Jack Deserves To Be Loved

One thing is for sure: Jack’s caregivers will do everything in their power to help him find his forever home. While he’s happy at the rescue, what he needs is a home to belong in and someone to help him spend his golden years the way he deserves.

Jack is full of puppy energy, loves the water, and adores belly rubs and treats

“Jack is full of life, with a happy, goofy personality and a surprising amount of pep in his step for his age. He loves the water, adores his crate, and melts for belly rubs and treats. He’s loyal, silly, and has a heart as big as his blocky head,” MMDR wrote.

Even though he has waited longer than most dogs ever should, Jack doesn’t let that stand in the way. He’s never lost his spark.

Hopefully, his family is just around the corner, ready to walk up to his kennel and notice him. Jack deserves nothing less.

Good luck, sweet boi. We can’t wait for the heartwarming update!
