All dogs deserve to feel the warmth of a loving home. For a puppy, the company of their loving humans means everything. Sadly, many never get to keep that comfort.
When families can no longer care for them, these dogs are left behind, confused and heartbroken. The shelter doors close, but the pain of being abandoned stays.
Prim was one of those dogs. Adopted as a young puppy, she got to know what family life felt like before it all slipped away. The young pit bull terrier, once full of life, suddenly found herself alone again in a strange place.
But even after everything she’d lost, Prim’s spirit refused to fade.
Feeling Heartbroken

Prim’s first year was filled with change. After she was adopted in March 2024, she finally had people to love and a home to call her own.
But just months later, her new family rehomed her.
Shortly afterward, Prim was surrendered to Fulton County Animal Services in Atlanta. Her owners were having financial difficulties and had no choice but to let her go.
For Prim, losing her family again was more than confusing. It broke her heart.
Life in the shelter was hard for a dog who loved being around people.
“A dog who once loved walks, car rides, and meeting new friends now spends her days in distress,” a volunteer, Merve Gurses, shared on Instagram.
Prim panted constantly, bit at the walls and couldn’t settle down.
All she wanted was to be with her humans. Behind the kennel bars, she felt scared and lost. The pup couldn’t understand why she was no longer with her family. She thought their love was forever.
“She is a people’s dog. So I think being away from people and being isolated really affected her,” Gurses said in an interview.

As days passed, her sadness deepened. A video of her curled up in the corner, too withdrawn to even look at visitors, spread quickly online.
By October 30, 2025, her time at the shelter was nearly up. Then, when it seemed all hope was gone, a kind family saw her story and decided she deserved another chance.
Prim’s New Beginning
Prim’s life changed the day she left the shelter. She started to relax in her new home, and her playful side returned. The once-fearful dog began to trust again.
She spends her days surrounded by love. Her tail wags easily, and her eyes are bright once more.
Prim’s story is a reminder that even after heartbreak, a little compassion can heal what was once broken. A second chance really can change everything.
