Senior Citizens From Hawaii Realized There Are Furry Babies Stuck On Abandoned Property, So They Quickly React

Responsibility is important when owning a dog. A lot of people assume that having one is a piece of cake and all you need to do is feed it and that is that.

It’s the furthest from the truth you can imagine. Having a pup is like having a toddler in many ways. They demand so much from you and it’s not an easy task.

The good thing is that it gets easier with time, but a lot of people don’t have any patience, or they just don’t care that much about dogs.

Some people will outright just abandon their dogs when they become an inconvenience and they’ll do it in the most horrible way imaginable. It’s essentially what happened when these owners abandoned their property and left their dogs there.

Many People Gathered For The Rescue

It was an ordinary day for Maraya Pierro, the director of Rescue Kitties of Hawaii, when she suddenly received a call from her eighty-year-old mother about puppies on an abandoned property.

She immediately responded, although she had no idea how many people would volunteer to help rescue these dogs.

There was just one problem though. The puppies were lying underneath a deck of the abandoned property, so it was not going to be easy to reach them.

Pierro told The Dodo: “My first thought was, like, ‘Oh my God, I don’t know what to do with puppies.

The first instinct was to get them some food because they were probably starving, so she grabbed formula, bottles, and a few blankets because this might take a while.

After asking around, Pierro learned that the owners of the property left it in a hurry and as a result, abandoned their pups without hesitation.

A Community Effort

Luckily for them, a man who was in charge of caring for the property after they left fed the dogs and kept them alive the whole time.

Shortly after arriving at the location in Hawaii, she called for help. So many senior citizens arrived to assist.

All of them tried to pinpoint where the puppies were hiding and the noise led them to the place. Pierro said: “I’ve never seen any of us jump into action that quickly. We’re not spring chickens, either.

When they finally located them, the rescuers just started getting them out of the hole in the ground. Everyone was shocked by how many there were.

In total, they saved about seven puppies. They checked the entire property again to make sure they didn’t miss anyone.

They Found Papa Dog

Once they confirmed everything, they took the puppies to a safe place and started bottle-feeding them. Since they were still very young, they needed help with everything.

The town, Moloka’i, doesn’t have a shelter big enough to house seven puppies, but Pierro did know a few veterinarians who could take care of vaccinations for the puppies.

Shortly after, Pierro was also able to secure a foster home for all of them, at least until they found a more permanent home.

She said: “These foster pups each come with their own bombastic personalities. Side eyes, snuggles, howls, and more! From Little Miss Land Shark to Fatabu the Big Baby, they’re already stealing hearts.

As for the mama and papa dog, the Maui Humane Society in Hawaii located the father and they were able to find a forever home for him in no time.

They are hoping to find the mama dog as well, but it might take some time. Hopefully they all find a forever home with someone special.
