Imagine how many shelter dogs wait in their kennels, hoping that someone falls in love with them and gives them the chance to have their own home.
Vivian, a Pit Bull mix, longed to meet her special human and see what life was like outside the four walls of her kennel.
The pup arrived at the Fulton County Animal Services in Atlanta, Georgia, after being picked up as a stray. Nobody really knew anything about her past.
Right from the beginning, the shelter staff knew that Vivian had a lovely personality and they hoped she wouldn’t spend much time in the noisy shelter environment.
A Fateful Encounter At The Shelter

Kami Thomas was a dog lover and former dog owner. Sadly, she lost her beloved dog Myla in March of 2025 after they spent nearly a decade by each other’s side.
In June of 2025, Thomas heard about the Dog for the Day program that Fulton County Animal Services organized in partnership with LifeLine Animal Project.
Thomas thought it would be nice to take a dog out for a day, so she went to the shelter.
There she met Vivian and immediately knew that she was the dog whom she had been looking for.
However, the staff told her that Vivian wasn’t participating in the program because she had gotten spayed.
Luckily, the shelter staff had a great idea. They suggested Thomas take Vivian home for a couple of days so that the pup could relax and take a break from the shelter life.

When the staff took her out of her kennel, Vivian lay on the ground, exposed her belly and asked for belly rubs.
After seeing how wonderful and trusting she was, Thomas was convinced that Vivian was a special dog.
Enjoying Her Time In A Foster Home

Once the doggo arrived at her home, she was surprised by some simple objects like a television and a ceiling fan. That was the reason why Thomas believed that Vivian didn’t have much human interaction before.
After spending 24 hours together, Thomas and Vivian formed a strong bond.
Although she initially intended to keep the dog for a couple of days, the woman changed her mind. She decided to foster her for a while, train her and advocate for her and other shelter dogs.
She knew that Vivian needed her and her love. The pup trusted her completely and didn’t want to stay away from her.

The kind woman recorded the way Vivian looked at her and posted the video on TikTok.
The doggo was lying on the couch next to her mom and gazing at her with eyes filled with love and gratitude.
Before long, the clip gained widespread attention and Vivian melted hearts everywhere.
Thomas loved the dog deeply and they became best friends. Every time she left the house, she couldn’t wait to get back home and spend time with Vivian.
Vivian Gets Her Wish

Thomas wished she could keep her, but unfortunately, she couldn’t because she was moving to New York. Dogs were not allowed in the apartment where she would be staying.
The kind-hearted woman continued documenting her time spent with Vivian on TikTok.
She hoped that someone would fall in love with Vivian so that she wouldn’t have to go back to the shelter. The dog was available for adoption at LifeLine Animal Project.
Fortunately, Thomas recently shared the most amazing news. Vivian got adopted!

The online exposure that Vivian received helped her find her humans.
The affectionate pup enchanted the heart of a wonderful family who knew right away that they wanted to adopt her.
Thomas was happy for Vivian. She knew that she would miss her a lot, but she was grateful that she came into her life when she needed her the most.
As soon as Thomas moves into her new place where dogs are allowed, she plans to continue fostering. She hopes that Vivian’s story will inspire other people to foster shelter dogs and thus give them a chance to find a forever home.
