Ever been a proud owner welcoming their dog’s little babies into this world? If you have, then you know the ultimate cuteness overload. However, you also know about insomnia, stress and anxiety, because taking care of multiple puppies at the same time isn’t an easy job.
Now, imagine the shock Virginia rescuers felt when they realized one of their newly admitted dogs, Love Bug, had delivered a massive litter.
It wasn’t a regular number of puppies. It wasn’t what anyone expected. And it definitely wasn’t easy. But in the end, Love Bug and her caregivers still pulled off the caregiving like pros!
Astonishing Number Of Puppies
The rescuers at Hope for Life Rescue, Virginia, couldn’t be more grateful for saving Love Bug and her family just in time.
This scared dog recently gave birth to a shocking number of puppies – fourteen of them. Yet, when the rescuers came to pick them up, she was just too reluctant to trust them.
She didn’t allow anyone to approach her babies, let alone help her care for them.
Despite having so many, Love Bug was a dedicated mom to all of her little ones. However, given the high number of puppies in one litter, the rescuers knew Love Bug needed assistance to help each and every one thrive.
They spent a few days trying to get Love Bug to trust them, and soon enough, this proud mama slowly came out of her shell.
“Momma is starting to trust us and has been letting us weigh her puppies daily to ensure that they are all getting adequate nutrition,” the Virginia rescue wrote in a Facebook post.
She even allowed her rescuers to feed her babies, which was a huge stepping stone.
“Love Bug still isn’t sure what to make of people, but she happily accepts any help when it comes to her babies. 14 is A LOT,” the rescue added in another post.
By the end of the month, Love Bug had volunteers reading to her, bringing her delicious homemade food and cuddling with her. Aside from being a wonderful mama, she also became the ultimate shelter sweetheart!
Happily Ever After For Each And Every One
It didn’t take long for Love Bug’s babies to steal the hearts of potential adopters.
When they were finally big and strong enough to be put on adoption lists, each and every one of her babies found a forever home in record time.
And, after being such a caring mom, it was finally Love Bug’s time to feel loved and cared for again.
This brave doggo girl was adopted by a woman named Sandy Walker, and it turned out to be the best decision ever.
Love Bug, now Ruby, was immediately showered with endless love from her new family. She gradually learned how to walk on a leash, go out on adventures and meet new people.
Today, Ruby is the center of attention of her new home. She’s a quirky girl who sometimes gets her own way (she squeals when in need of something and loves to steal her dad’s chair), Sandy and her family are beyond grateful for having her around.
