No dog should ever endure suffering, but sadly, many canines go through harrowing experiences and neglect that leaves them sick and heartbroken.
Harry, a six-month-old-puppy, suffered, too. He was in a bad condition, covered in mange and infested with worms. Day after day, he endured pain.
Just when he was close to giving up, Brunswick Animal Control in Lawrenceville, Virginia, found him and brought him to the shelter.
The staff were sad to see him in such a state and they knew that he needed to leave the shelter so that he could heal both physically and emotionally.
Getting Used To Life In Foster Home

Due to his mange, Harry also had to be quarantined and isolated from the other shelter dogs.
The shelter staff contacted Beagles and Bentleys, a foster-based rescue in Richmond, and asked them to take Harry in.
The rescue took over the care of Harry and their foster, McKenzie, took him to her home.
Her heart broke for him. She knew that mange didn’t happen overnight and that the pup had been neglected for a long time. He barely had any fur on his body.
Harry was so frightened that he couldn’t walk on the floor in his foster home.
However, McKenzie’s biggest concern was his high fever, and getting it down was her priority.
“He also has a high fever fighting off his terrible infections. Additionally, he is anemic from his severe worm infestation.” Beagles and Bentleys wrote in a Facebook post.
McKenzie took care of the pup and gave him the prescribed medicine.
Harry seemed defeated. He refused to leave his pen due to his fear.

His foster mom started working on gaining his trust. She sat with him for a lot of time so that he could get used to her presence.
Four days later, Harry’s fever subsided. McKenzie was thrilled to see that he was getting better, and she gave him a bath.

McKenzie continued pampering Harry with care and showing him love.
After some time, the doggo started feeling comfortable in her presence, and he began coming out of his shell.
Love Heals Harry’s Broken Heart

The pup was grateful to his foster mom. He looked at her with so much tenderness in his eyes.
For the first time in his life, he learned what love felt like, and he soaked up the affection McKenzie gave him.
Once he let go of his fear, Harry showed his excitement. He wagged his tail and started doing adorable tippy taps. He realized that life was beautiful.

Gradually, his skin began healing, and new strands of fur began growing.
Two months later, the pup reached full health and made an amazing recovery.
He seemed like a different dog. He was ready to start searching for a forever family who would give him the love he always deserved.
Harry’s wish came true!

An amazing family who was looking to adopt a dog saw him and couldn’t help falling in love. They gave him the home he dreamed of.
Harry was the picture of happiness. He forgot his difficult past and turned a new leaf. He smiled like never before and enjoyed spending time with his forever humans.
Thank you to the good humans who helped Harry start a new life filled with love. Just like all strays and abandoned dogs, he deserved a second chance.
