Happiest Doggo Abandoned At A Texas Shelter Struggles To Find A Home Even After 200 Days

What makes working in a shelter particularly difficult is seeing when a rescue pup has been in there for too long and can’t find a home.

It’s heartbreaking to see how their usually playful attitude slowly goes away when they realize that most adopters are just ignoring them and looking for something else.

While some dogs will get really depressed after a prolonged stay in a shelter, others will try their best to keep a happy face to hopefully attract some interest from adopters.

That’s basically what happened to this pup who was stuck at a shelter in Texas. He just wanted a loving home, but things were not going quite how they were supposed to.

An Adorable Pup

When Rocky was first taken to the Houston Humane Society in Texas, his owner abandoned him, and now he was on his own.

This didn’t deter Rocky’s usually outgoing and cheerful personality. He was still happy to see his rescuers and anyone who passed by his kennel.

However, as time went on, the shelter staff were surprised that nobody had any interest in adopting this pup. They had no idea why that was the case.

There was nothing wrong with him. He was only three years old, and he had so much love to give. He bonded with people very easily, so that was not an issue.

In every picture his rescuers took, he always looked really happy when he got attention, which is why they were baffled.

I mean, how could you not love him right away? Just seeing how cheerful he is all the time is heartwarming, and he really deserves to find a new family.

The Rescuers Tried Something Else

When the usual methods were not working, the shelter staff from Texas tried a new method. They were going to post his story on Facebook to see how it would go.

The Humane Society wrote: “While Rocky likes to chill, he is a curious adventure dog who likes to hike (on leash), explore his neighborhood, and meet new people. He gets along with other dogs and has lived with children and toddlers.

That’s one thing that’s also great about him. He loves adventure, and exploring new environments is never a boring task for him, so I hope whoever adopts him takes him for walks often.

While the post attracted a lot of attention and many people liked it, we don’t really know if anyone has expressed interest in adopting him yet.

The rescuers are still hoping that the entire situation will turn around and the pup will find somebody who will give him the love and respect he always deserved. Until then, he will stay with them.

While we don’t know what happened next in his story, I hope Rocky is now living his best life with the most amazing family.
