While a kind-hearted man was walking down the street in the Bronx, New York, he spotted something that broke his heart. A little black dog was curled up on the streets between two cars and was trembling with cold.
The man rushed to her aid. Once he realized that the doggo was tied to a nearby pole, he was in disbelief. The kind human sprang into action. He fed the dog and gave her some water.
He called Jennifer Rodriguez, a rescuer and a foster for Waldo’s Rescue Pen, told her about the harrowing situation, and asked her for help.
Hero Comes To The Dog’s Aid

When Rodriguez reached the spot and saw the sad doggo lying helplessly on the street, her heart broke. She couldn’t believe that anyone could be capable of such cruelty toward an innocent animal.
“My heart was shattered. I just couldn’t believe how a human could do that to a small pup,” Rodriguez told The Dodo.
She tried to approach her, and the dog, later named Cleo, started growling, letting her know that he didn’t trust her.
Rodriguez offered him some treats, hoping to win her over. Luckily, her plan worked. Cleo couldn’t resist the delicious food, and she let the rescuer move closer.
She scooped Cleo up, wrapped her in a blanket, and took her to her friend, Lisa Encarnacion’s dog grooming place nearby. They cleaned her up and gave her time to relax.
The pup was confused, but at the same time, she was relieved to be safe.

Rodriguez drove her to the vet, who examined her and gave her a clean bill of health. They scanned her for a microchip, but she didn’t have one.
Cleo stayed with Encarnacion, who cared for her and gave her love.
Little by little, the pup started feeling better, and she put on weight.
Cleo Discovers Unconditional Love

Fortunately, Rodriguez found her a great foster home where Cleo continued thriving.
Her foster mom poured love into her and helped her discover the beauty of life.
As time went by, Cleo’s foster mom realized that she didn’t want to part ways with the precious pup. She officially adopted her and promised to love her forever.
Cleo was over the moon because she finally got what her heart always craved for – a loving family and a place to call home.
“Her new mom works from home, so she has a lot of time for her. She has a little sister, a Chihuahua, and [they’ve] become best friends,” Rodriguez added.
From a heartbroken and helpless pup tied to a pole on a New York street, Cleo flourished into a happy girl who finally enjoyed life.
Thank you, Jennifer Rodriguez, for rescuing her and helping her find her happiness.
