When Zachary and his girlfriend, Samantha, spotted a pup who was running around a pool parking lot in Arizona, they jumped to her aid.
She looked scared and confused. The couple assumed that someone had abandoned the dog so they started investigating.
Shortly afterward, they came across a heartwrenching discovery… a plastic bag that contained a note.
Once they read the note, which gave them insight into the doggo’s backstory, Samantha and Zachary felt devastated.
The Note
They learned that the dog’s name was Bella and that she used to live with her original owner for sixteen years.
Sadly, her owner, an older lady who loved her deeply, was unable to continue taking care of her.
The note revealed details about Bella’s previous life, her character, and the peaceful life she had with her previous owner.
“I am trained to use a diaper pad. Our last old lady had me for over 16 years… I bark at door noises and when people enter the house. Even the people I know sometimes,” the note read.
The couple, who were animal lovers, felt devastated. Samantha couldn’t help crying because Bella had to be separated from her human.
The Arizona couple deemed that it wasn’t a coincidence that they found Bella.
They offered comforting words to her and took it upon themselves to find her a loving home.
She was wonderful and they believed that she would steal the heart of a great family who was looking to adopt a dog.
Bella’s rescuers considered taking her to a shelter.
However, they were discouraged when they found out that the process could be prolonged and that the dog would most likely be put on a waiting list.
Bella Gets Another Shot At Happiness
Samantha and Zachary posted Bella’s photo, along with the note, on Facebook and Reddit, trying to figure out the best option for the doggo.
Some people online who carefully read the note observed that the style of writing resembled a shelter information card.
They expressed their suspicions that perhaps someone had adopted Bella from the shelter or a rescue, changed their mind after a while, and then abandoned her.
The couple decided to use a neighborhood networking app called Nextdoor, in order to find the home that Bella deserved, and it proved to be a great idea.
Samantha got in touch with a wonderful retired couple who fell in love with the doggo and offered her a forever home.
Bella’s rescuers visited them and felt that they would take care of the dog and love her like she deserved.
Bella will never be abandoned again. She will always know how loved she is.
