What is it about black Pitties that makes people pass them by? Could their color or breed really be the reason so many are left behind?
Sadly, that seems to be the case. Black Pitties often remain unwanted, stuck in shelters or bouncing from foster to foster. Anna, a beautiful, affectionate girl, is one of those dogs. Despite her sweet nature, she has spent years being overlooked, wondering why nobody wants her.
Even after two years of searching, Anna still hasn’t found her forever family.
Once A Hopeful Pup

Anna’s journey didn’t start with much luck. Before she ever knew the warmth of a home, she, her mom and brother were rescued from a dumpster by Strong Paws Rescue in New York.
Her rescuers believed this young pup had a bright future. They hoped she’d find a forever family quickly, but things didn’t go that way.
“Anna is a loving black pitbull who’s been waiting almost two years for her forever home. We welcomed her into our care as a young puppy when she was found outside of a dumpster with her mom and brother,” Strong Paws Rescue shared on Facebook.
While her mother and sibling were adopted, Anna was left behind. In all that time, she’s only ever had one adoption application—which never came through.

Instead, Anna began life in foster care. At first, it gave her a taste of what it’s like to belong. But every time she began to settle in, she had to leave. Moving over and over again slowly wore on her spirit.
The constant changes made her more cautious, a little slower to trust. Yet, once she feels safe, Anna quickly blossoms into the affectionate, goofy pup she truly is.

Her rescue says she does wonderfully with other dogs, whether big or small, and could easily thrive in a multi-dog household.
“She is great with dogs big and small, and is a mix of playful and a cuddly couch potato,” they wrote.
Sadly, her breed and color continue to hold her back from being chosen.
Eight Homes In Just Two Years

By the end of last year, Anna was once again at risk of losing her foster placement. Her current foster family explained they couldn’t keep her much longer. That meant another painful goodbye.
This would be the eighth time in two years that Anna was uprooted.
“It’s just not fair for her to keep moving. We really want to find her a permanent home by then, where she can finally feel safe, settled, and loved for good,” the rescue pleaded.

Anna has endured more heartbreak than any dog should. All she really wants is stability—a family who will appreciate her for who she is and love her endlessly.
For now, she waits, moving from one temporary place to another, holding on to hope that the right family will finally come along.
Anna’s story is a reminder of how unfair life can be for dogs who are judged for their appearance. She is gentle, loving, great with other pups, and would make the perfect addition to the right family.
After everything she’s gone through — rescued from a dumpster, overlooked for years, and shifted through eight foster homes, it’s time for her to finally have her happy ending.
She deserves a forever family who won’t give up on her.
