For stray puppies, life is hard from the start. Finding a way through each day takes grit, and when a pup has special needs, those struggles can feel even more daunting.
Some breeders, acting without care or conscience, cast aside puppies they see as imperfect. Left on their own, these little ones are forced into a harsh world with no safety and no one to protect them.
Far too many fragile animals never get to experience what home should feel like. Love, comfort, and security remain out of reach for more of them than anyone wants to imagine.
But for a group of special needs puppies in Minnesota, things were finally beginning to change. Kind rescuers stepped in and redirected their story toward something much brighter.
A Much-Needed Rescue
Volunteers from Emotional Rescue, a Minnesota-based group that specializes in helping dogs with medical and behavioral issues, came across a litter of puppies who could not stop shaking. Without hesitation, they scooped them up and brought them to safety.
These puppies were fortunate. The organization focuses on dogs that require extra care, making this the ideal place for the puppies to receive the help they desperately needed.
An initial exam revealed the pups were suffering from Shaking Puppy Syndrome, also known as hypomyelination.
This condition causes tremors, especially during activities like eating or playing, though it eases when the puppies are resting.
Though there is no current cure, most puppies improve with age. Symptoms typically fade within a year, and any twitching that remains usually doesn’t affect their daily lives.
Thanks to the care and safe environment provided, all five puppies are thriving. Their rescuers are confident that, with time, each will be healthy enough to find a loving forever family.
A Heartwarming Online Reaction
Not long after their rescue, Emotional Rescue posted a video of the puppies on TikTok. The video quickly gained attention, with viewers expressing sympathy and encouragement.

Thankfully, the puppies’ muscles do get to relax when they rest. The tremors occur mainly during light activities or mealtimes but subside when they are lying down.
Their bodies have time to rest and recover, which is why their rescuers are optimistic about their recovery.

Despite the continuous shaking, the puppies are resilient. They take plenty of naps, regain their strength, and are expected to outgrow the worst of the condition.
