A tiny rescue puppy named Drummy weighed just five pounds at five months old. When his foster family finally gave him a DNA test, they were absolutely stunned by the results.
A Heartbreaking Arrival
When a tiny, fragile puppy arrived at a local shelter in Missouri, staff members were heartbroken by his condition. Nobody knew exactly what had happened to him or how he had ended up in such a desperate situation.
He was so small and weak that he had to be given subcutaneous fluids just to keep going. The Missouri shelter environment was overwhelming for the little dog, and he spent his time shaking uncontrollably inside his kennel.
It was a terribly sad sight to see an animal left in such a vulnerable state. Fortunately, a kind-hearted couple saw him and knew they could not simply walk away.
“It made me feel like the best thing we could do for him was take him home and make him our foster,” his rescuer explained.
They scooped up the tiny Missouri pup and prepared to give him a safe place to land.

The couple was setting up for a gala event when the little dog had his “real big breakout into the world.” To their absolute delight, he was finally able to use his legs on his own.

Conquering The Stairs
With his mobility returning, the puppy started looking for new challenges. The biggest obstacle in the house was the staircase.

Even though Drummy was now officially part of the family, there was still one big mystery left to solve. Nobody had any idea what kind of dog he actually was.
Because of his incredibly small size, many assumed he had to be a Chihuahua mix. But his features were unique, leaving his family guessing.
To finally get some answers, they decided to order a canine DNA test. They swabbed his cheek, sent it off to the lab, and eagerly waited for the results.
An Unbelievable Reveal
When the DNA results finally arrived, the couple was absolutely floored. They definitely did not expect the answer staring back at them.
Drummy was not a Chihuahua at all. According to the test, he was a 100% American Bully—a breed known for being large, muscular, and sturdy.
At five months old, Drummy weighed a mere five pounds. For an American Bully to be that small and still be alive was nothing short of a miracle.
