Indiana Resident Investigates Strange Sounds Coming From Empty Laundromat And Finds An Unexpected Surprise

As an animal rescuer, you can never predict where the next plea for help will come from. And no matter how many missions you’ve faced, some moments still catch you off guard.

While passing by a rundown laundromat in Indiana, a passerby froze as desperate cries pierced the silence. Driven by worry and curiosity, they stepped inside—only to stumble upon a heartbreaking discovery.

Two Helpless Pairs of Eyes Staring From the Pit

Peeking from a pit in the floor, two terrified pairs of eyes met the passerby’s gaze. The sight left them stunned: two severely malnourished Pitties, weak and hopeless, had been trapped there for who knows how long.

Realizing the urgency, the passerby immediately reached out for help.

Within minutes, animal control officer Mari arrived, joined by volunteers Kelly and Jay from Silverstray Social in Gary, Indiana.

All three rescuers had faced many difficult cases before, but this one left them shaken. The pups were skin and bones, covered in wounds, and barely able to stand.

“Two innocent dogs suffered trapped in a pit – abandoned, starving, and clinging to life! Silverstray and Gary Animal Control pulled them from the depths of despair,” the SS team wrote on Facebook.

As soon as they felt the rescuers’ touch, the dogs wagged their tails with relief. They finally knew help had arrived.

The starving pups devoured their first meal in what must have felt like forever. With no microchips, collars, or identification, their past remained a mystery. But one thing was certain—their future had just begun.

A Beautiful New Chapter

The two Pitties, later named Cheer and Suds, went straight into medical care. The vet team treated their wounds, provided much-needed medication, and gave them the love and attention they had been denied for so long.

Soon after, the pups received the happiest news—they wouldn’t have to go back to animal control. Instead, both Cheer and Suds moved into foster homes where they could heal in comfort.

“After who knows how long they were trapped in that hole, starving and clinging to life, they will finally know comfort—and sleep on soft, warm beds,” Silverstray Social wrote in an update post.

With the support of their rescuers and a caring community, Cheer and Suds are thriving. They now enjoy regular meals, gentle care, and the warmth of human companionship.

For the first time, these two girls are experiencing what it means to feel safe.

When the time comes, they’ll start searching for forever homes—and this time, they’ll never be abandoned again.
