One of the hardest parts of working in an animal shelter is making sure every dog finds a home where they truly belong.
Sadly, that isn’t always how things turn out. Too often, staff must face the pain of seeing dogs brought back because their owners no longer want them.
For Zion, a sweet dog who adored people, that pain came three times. Each time he was surrendered, his spirit sank a little deeper.
The team couldn’t understand why it kept happening. All they knew was that they had to find a way to help him heal.
Zion Faces Another Setback After Being Returned

Zion had only spent a year with his most recent family when they returned him to the Florida shelter. No one knew why this kept happening.
He seemed like the perfect companion. Around people, he was affectionate and well-behaved, and he loved playing with other dogs.
When the staff welcomed him back, they knew this would hit him hard and that his recovery wouldn’t be quick.

Broward County Humane Society had decided to post a video about his current situation, hoping someone would see his struggle and offer him a real home.
In the description, they wrote: “He was just being a dog! This gorgeous 1-year-old pup is Zion, and sadly, he has been given up 3 times now all because his humans did not understand him”
They also reminded people that his breed was intelligent and playful, making him a joy to be around.
Looking Ahead To A Loving Home

Zion is very devoted to his family and doesn’t like being alone without them. That’s primarily the reason his owners abandoned him.
Whenever they left, he would cry, bark, and sometimes destroy things. The noise and damage frustrated his owners, and eventually, they gave up on him.
The Broward County Humane Society continued by saying: “Zion has been let down, and now, through no fault of his own, he is back at our shelter hoping for yet another chance to be the incredible dog that he is!”
This affectionate pup just wanted to be with someone who cared.

Zion loved discovering new places, running around with other dogs, and especially going for car rides. It was one of his favorite things to do.
He would thrive in a home with another dog, someone to keep him company so he wouldn’t feel lonely or act out.
The Humane Society is searching for someone who will accept him as he is, because he truly deserves that chance.
While we don’t know yet if Zion has found that family, what matters most is that the Florida shelter staff is doing everything possible to keep him safe and happy.
