Deep in the woods near the Bronx River Parkway in New York, Llana was left completely alone.
The sweet Pit Bull had been chained there with only two feet of movement, surrounded by fear, isolation, and uncertainty, with no one nearby to help her.
It is difficult to understand how anyone could treat a dog so cruelly.
Then a compassionate jogger came across Llana and acted quickly, giving her the chance to leave that terrifying place behind and reach safety.
From Terror To A Bright Smile

During an evening run, the jogger heard frantic barking echoing through the trees. Since darkness had fallen, he returned the next morning to investigate.
After an extensive search, he discovered a terrified dog tied to a tree, hidden well within the forest.
He immediately contacted Craig Fields of the New York Bully Crew, a veteran rescuer, who quickly arrived at the scene.
“A jogger who was running through there the night before heard barking and went back the next day to find our special girl in the dense woods. She was so scared and confused and was acting aggressively because of this. Who could blame her,” NYBC wrote.

Initially, Llana barked fiercely, attempting to defend herself from the unfamiliar human. Craig, however, knew how to reach her gently. He offered food and gave her the space she needed to feel secure.
Gradually, Llana’s fear began to subside. Soon, she was taking food directly from his hand. At that moment, Craig carefully slipped a leash around her and guided her into his vehicle.
Although still uneasy, a subtle shift showed she recognized safety for the first time.
Llana Discovers Her Forever Family

Llana’s transformation was swift. Within weeks of consistent care and affection, her true personality surfaced.
The frightened, defensive dog faded into a loving companion, eager to wag her tail and share her smile. Three months later, she met her forever family.
“Llana’s family is so dedicated to her that they spent weeks getting to know her, spent time at the NYBC facility, put in the effort with their dog prior to introducing them and continues to put forth effort and responsibility,” wrote NYBC on their Facebook.

Her new life exceeded every expectation. She gained loving owners, a dog sibling named Ruckus, and a baby sister named Tea. Despite never knowing a large, caring family before, Llana immediately embraced them all.
Today, she thrives, spending her days playing, cuddling, and enjoying the company of her family. Whenever her humans step away, she and Ruckus are ready with wagging tails to greet them upon their return.

“We return home and they have their crazy wigglebutts and just cuddle in our laps every time we sit,” Llana’s owners wrote on Instagram.
Naptime, playtime, or family bonding, Llana remains at the heart of every activity, living a life filled with joy, love, and adventure, the kind she always deserved.
