We all know that dogs are fascinated by anything shiny or an object that they can play with. Show them a ball and it’s like the best thing that ever happened to them.
Playing tag, eating treats, or just chewing on their toys is all that it takes to make a dog happy. They are simple creatures.
The best example we can find to illustrate this point is a Golden Retriever from California who happened to stumble into something surprising in a tree at a park. Now, he can’t go to the same spot without looking at the tree.
What Is So Interesting About The Tree?
When Sophie Fogelson took her dog, Zebby, for a walk one day, she noticed that he was playing around as usual until something grabbed his attention.
Sophie thought that her pup was looking at squirrels since he usually has a habit of barking at other animals, but he never really showed interest in squirrels particularly.
She approached him to see what was going on. After looking up at the tree, she saw that there was a tennis ball stuck in it.
It would be an understatement to say that Zebby likes to play fetch with these balls. It’s one of his favorite activities.
However, something interesting happened as a result of this productive day. Now, anytime Sophie takes her dog to that same area in California for a walk, he starts looking at the tree.
Even now, he hopes to find a ball stuck in the tree, so his owner can get it for him. The look of disappointment on his face when he realizes that the ball is nowhere to be found is both sad and funny.

Sophie thought that Zebby’s reaction to not finding the ball in the tree every time was pretty hilarious, so she wanted everyone to see it.
After posting it on TikTok, it sparked a lot of conversation, but most people just expressed their compassion for Zebby’s ‘tragic’ situation.
One person commented: “The fact you don’t go back at night, every night and put a ball back in the tree is absolutely unacceptable.”
Just seeing the disappointed look on his face would be enough to convince me that there needs to be a ball on that tree every time.
Another person said: “We had dog toys delivered from Amazon once. Now my boy needs to inspect every box that’s delivered?”
See? That’s a very attentive dog right there. He’s just trying to help out his family by looking at every box from the delivery man. Who knows what they put in there?

Yeah, it’s hilarious how they have room to remember just about everything that is not important, and then when you tell them not to make a mess, they end up doing just that.
Small situations like this always remind us why it’s so interesting to live with dogs. Every day with them is an adventure because you never know when you might learn something new about your furry companion.
