A chance encounter with a loving family of injured dogs in India led to a seven-month rescue mission to bring them to the United States for a second chance.
A Heartbreaking Discovery

While traveling in India, a kindhearted rescuer from California came across a heartbreaking sight. A family of injured dogs was wandering the streets, desperate for a little bit of kindness.
Instead of running away in fear, the dogs immediately gravitated toward her. They started following her everywhere she went, refusing to let her out of their sight.
“They always were just so friendly, so loving,” she recalled. It was clear that these sweet animals were longing for connection.
Seeing their gentle spirits despite their injuries, she knew she had to step in and help.
Taking Them Under Her Wing

The rescuer quickly took the sweet dog family under her wing. She started by cleaning them up and making sure they received much-needed veterinary care.
Every single day, she made sure they had enough food to eat. The dogs were incredibly grateful for the attention and nourishment.
As time went on, a deep bond began to form. The dogs were growing more and more attached to their new caretaker.
They wanted to be loved, and they desperately needed someone to advocate for them.
A Life-Changing Decision

With her trip coming to an end, the rescuer faced a difficult reality. She knew she couldn’t just leave India and abandon the dogs who had come to trust her.
“At that point, we decided that we would take them under our wings permanently and try to bring them to the U.S.,” she shared.
It was a massive undertaking, but her heart was already committed to their future.
She was determined to give them the safe, happy lives they deserved.
A Familiar Reflection

This wasn’t the first time the rescuer had been touched by a dog in need. Just the year prior, she had adopted a dog named Ginni through a rescue in India.
When she and her mother looked at this new family of injured dogs, they saw Ginni’s sweet face reflected in them.
Ginni had been a source of immense joy and inspiration. “If I didn’t have her, I don’t know if I would have had the strength to do it,” the rescuer admitted.
That previous rescue experience gave her the courage to embark on this new, daunting mission.
The Seven-Month Wait

Bringing the dogs back to the United States was not going to be a quick process. Getting the necessary permission from the CDC would take approximately seven months.
During that long waiting period, she had to ensure the dogs were completely safe in India.
She began a relentless search for a temporary home. She called between 40 and 50 different boarding facilities.
Finally, she found a place that was willing to accept the entire family of dogs for the time being.
A Blessing In Disguise

With a safe place secured, they gathered up all the dogs and transported them to the boarding facility.
They all reached the location safely, giving the rescuer tremendous peace of mind.
“So, it was really a blessing,” she noted. The dogs were finally off the streets and in a protected environment.
Now, all they had to do was wait for the paperwork to clear so they could begin their real journey.
A Forty-Hour Journey

After months of waiting and hoping, the incredible news finally arrived. They had officially received CDC permission to fly the dogs to the U.S.
The journey ahead was exhausting, involving 40 hours of extensive traveling across the globe.
But the long flight was entirely worth it. When the dogs finally touched down, it was a moment of pure triumph.
“It was such an amazing feeling having them home,” the rescuer said.
Settling Into A Real Home

As soon as they arrived at the house, the very first order of business was a warm bath to wash away the travel dirt.
Once they were clean, their curious personalities began to shine. They ran all over the house, happily sniffing every new corner.
Best of all, they immediately got along great with Ginni, adapting to their new surroundings very quickly.
While the rescuer doesn’t have the space to keep the entire family permanently, she is thrilled to foster them until they find their perfect forever homes, hoping to find adopters who will give them the exact same love they’ve received so far.
