Moose had a painful leg and a history of being returned. But when he met his third foster family, everything suddenly fell into place.
A History of Heartbreak

For a sweet California rescue dog named Moose, finding a place to call home seemed like an impossible dream. He had already been placed in two different foster homes, only to be returned both times.
It is always heartbreaking when a dog loses their temporary family, but Moose was dealing with an invisible burden on top of his housing instability.
He was in pain, and it was holding him back from living the joyful life every dog deserves.
A Painful Medical Mystery

Early November medical notes painted a concerning picture of the pup’s condition. The records stated that the dog was not wanting to bear any weight on his right hind leg.
Worse still, Moose was uncomfortable enough that he didn’t want to get up much at all.
It was clear that he needed significant medical intervention if he was ever going to be a happy, active dog.
The Third Try

That’s when a woman named Hailey decided to step in and give Moose another chance. She and her boyfriend, Logan, welcomed the struggling dog into their home.
“Oh, we’re gonna foster him,” Hailey recalled thinking on day one of their journey together.
They wanted to provide a safe, comfortable space for him to rest and figure out his next steps.
An Instant Bond

It didn’t take long for Moose to realize he was finally safe. He quickly found immense comfort in Logan’s presence.
In fact, the dog attached himself to Logan so deeply that he became “100% his shadow.”
“He really only cares about me if Logan isn’t here,” Hailey joked about the dog’s obvious preference for her boyfriend.
A Change of Plans

The original plan was just to foster Moose until he could find a permanent family. But Moose had already decided he was home.
Logan felt the exact same way. Shortly into the foster period, Logan told Hailey, “Honestly, I want him.”
Just a week later, Hailey was officially introducing Moose as her rescue dog to the world.
Spoiled Rotten

Once the adoption was official, Moose’s life completely transformed. He went from a dog who wouldn’t get up to a pup who was “beyond spoiled.”
He earned a long list of affectionate nicknames, including Mr. Moose, Moosie, Moosie-Moo, and Moosie-Mae.
His new parents treated him to pup cups and shopping trips, making sure to pick out special toys like a KONG ball and a plush moose.
Healing Like a Champ

To resolve his severe leg pain, Moose had to undergo surgery, which ultimately left him with three legs.
Despite the major physical change, the resilient dog bounced back incredibly fast. “He has healed like a champ with his surgery,” Hailey shared.
He completely adapted to his new body, leaving his days of resting and hiding far behind him.
Meant To Be

Today, Moose doesn’t let anything slow him down. He runs freely, playfully tossing pinecones in the yard as if he doesn’t even know he’s missing a leg.
Watching him thrive brings endless joy to the couple who refused to give up on him.
“100% meant to be because everything just fell into place so easy,” Hailey said, grateful that the dog who was returned twice finally found his forever family.
