Bailey The Service Dog Is The Best Medicine For Her Owner

Bailey The Service Dog Is The Best Medicine For Her Owner

Dogs really are amazing, but few people realize just how amazing they can be.

Take Bailey for instance, an Australian Shepherd service dog in Atlanta who helps her owner, Katie, deal with POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome).

The condition makes it hard for her to fend for herself, but, thanks to the specific training that her pooch has gone through, she’s all the help that Katie needs.

The Problem Starts Cooking In The Kitchen

In one of the many videos Katie posts about her dog that her security cameras record, we see that she’s going on about her day, putting dishes away before Bailey sniffs that something is up.

She comes on over to her pet parent and climbs up against her to get Katie to sit down, sensing an incoming episode.

The dog then proceeds to do something incredible as she starts grabbing the phone off the counter to bring it over to Bailey, followed by her medicine.

Grabbing the medicine took her jumping on top of the counter of all things.

However, she skillfully manages it and grabs the pill bottle, descending back down and bringing it back to her owner.

The Surprises Never End

Though Bailey isn’t done yet, she does something even more amazing, opening the fridge and grabbing a bottle of water to help Katie calm her body down.

I wish my own dog could manage such a feat of skill and dexterity in case something happens to me.

Nevertheless, once Bailey brings the bottle over, she lays down on Katie to provide some warmth and comfort and to help regulate Katie’s heart rate until the episode wanes.

Bailey isn’t the only service dog out there, and believe me when I say that a lot of them are literal lifesavers for their pet parents.

They perform incredible feats for their owners similar to what Bailey does, even though it may sound incredible, but it’s a wonder what a little bit of training can accomplish.

Bailey doesn’t just help Katie in the house though, but everywhere she goes around Atlanta and further, always by her side and making sure she stays safe.

Service dogs truly deserve our deepest respect for the work that they do, and I hope this little story helped you see their great value.

Until next time, pet parents.
