When a kind-hearted California rescuer was scrolling through Instagram, a shelter video immediately stopped her in her tracks.
The footage showed a cute little dog in a cage, being wheeled directly toward the room where he was scheduled to be put to sleep.

In a tragic twist of fate, because Hugo was still wet from his bath, he was electrocuted.

Without a moment of hesitation, Shoshi welcomed the fragile dog into her home with open arms.
At that point, Hugo still had a feeding tube and required constant monitoring, medications, and around-the-clock attention.
A Blossoming Personality
Hugo stayed with Shoshi for a few months while he slowly continued his miraculous recovery.
His original rescuer flew down almost every other weekend to spend time with them and help in any way she could.
Slowly but surely, the sick and fragile dog began to transform.
Seeing Hugo become goofy and playful, and watching his true personality bloom, was one of the most rewarding feelings in the world.
The Final Hurdle
Before he could fully move on with his life, Hugo had to undergo one final, major surgery.
The veterinary team had to remove 17 of his teeth, along with a part of his lower jaw.
Once he recovered from this final procedure, the rescue team knew it was time for their original plan.
Hugo was finally cleared to travel up to Northern California to be with his dedicated rescuer.

Today, Hugo is absolutely thriving, incredibly happy, and finally getting the chance to just be a normal dog.
Despite everything he has endured, he still trusts people, loves affection, and adores other dogs.
