Hope’s K9 Konvoy gives dozens of dogs the freedom to just be dogs. But her incredible journey all started with a terrifying accident and a very special German Shepherd.
A Pack That Kept Growing
When Hope first began walking dogs years ago, she never anticipated just how much her life in Wisconsin was about to change. What started as a simple passion quickly blossomed into something much larger.
As word spread, her daily pack of pups continued to grow. Eventually, she had so many furry clients that a standard vehicle simply couldn’t handle the load.
Knowing she couldn’t leave any of her beloved dogs behind, Hope made a massive decision. She upgraded to a full-sized bus just so she could pick them up every single morning.
Daycare On Wheels
Today, Hope considers herself an official dog walker, but her operation is far beyond a standard stroll around the block. She lovingly calls her business K9 Konvoy.
The bus acts as a doggy daycare on wheels, welcoming pups of all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds. Interestingly, many of her passengers didn’t quite fit in at traditional facilities.
“I have a lot of doggy daycare rejects,” Hope admits. Despite their past struggles, these dogs all have loving families and parents, and they have found the perfect alternative in Hope’s care.
The Best Part Of The Day
For Hope, her entire life revolves around dogs, no matter what she happens to be doing. But the mornings hold a special kind of magic.
“Picking them up every morning is my favorite part of every day,” she says. Greeting dogs like Ziggy and Oakley as they hop aboard brings her endless joy.
The feeling is entirely mutual. As the bus pulls up to their homes, the dogs are over-the-moon excited to start their daily adventure.
A Private Paradise
On any given day, Hope’s passenger list can range anywhere from 22 to 28 dogs. Managing that many energetic pups requires a special kind of space.
To give them the ultimate experience, Hope created her very own private dog park. It is a safe haven where her pack can run free without the restrictions of a public park.
“For two hours, they can dig, they can run, they can literally do whatever they want,” she explains. Her main philosophy is simple: she just lets the dogs be dogs.
Snack Time Deliveries
After two hours of digging, running, and playing with their best friends, the dogs are happily exhausted. It is time for the K9 Konvoy to make its return trip.
Hope carefully drives them all back home for the day, ensuring everyone gets back safely to their families. But the service doesn’t end at the door.
Before they head inside, Hope hands out daily treats. Pups like Indy and Okie Pokie eagerly wait for their snacks, making the drop-off just as exciting as the pick-up.
A Very Special Passenger
Among the dozens of dogs that ride the bus, one passenger stands out from the rest. His name is Zeppelin, and he holds a unique place in Hope’s heart.
Zeppelin is a bit different than the other pack members. He isn’t just a regular client; he is actually the very first official client Hope ever had.
Their deep bond wasn’t formed on a typical dog walk, however. It was forged during a terrifying moment that changed both of their lives forever.
The Accident
The story of Zeppelin and Hope began on a day that seemed completely normal. Hope was just standing in her kitchen when she suddenly heard a startling cry from outside.
She rushed out instantly to see what had happened. To her surprise, a German Shepherd had been involved in an accident with a car.
Without hesitating, Hope sprang into action. She quickly spoke with the dog’s mother, grabbed her car, and together they rushed the injured Zeppelin to the vet.
A Lifelong Connection
Thanks to the quick response, Zeppelin survived the terrifying ordeal. When he finally returned home to recover, something beautiful happened.
The brave German Shepherd remembered exactly who Hope was and what she had done for him. “Ever since then, Zeppelin and I have just had that connection,” she shares.
Now, three years into running her business full-time, Hope looks back on her journey with immense gratitude. Greeting dogs like Eddie and giving them a place to thrive has become her life’s purpose, and she says the dogs are truly like therapy to her.
