When Isa Machado and her family moved into their new place in Jacksonville, Florida, everyone was buzzing with excitement.
The trailer-style home felt cozy, promising, and full of possibilities, and for a little while, it seemed like they had landed somewhere just right.
Then the strange noises started.
Soft bumps. Faint scratching. Gentle rustling sounds that seemed to travel from one room to the next.
At first, the family tried to brush it off. Houses make sounds, they told themselves. But before long, the noises became much harder to ignore. They were too clear, too specific, and definitely too close for comfort.
Isa’s mother even joked, a little nervously, that maybe ghosts were involved. Everyone else tried to keep it together, but the uneasy feeling in the house kept growing day by day.

“We heard strange noises throughout the house. Something was making noises, and we got scared because we could even hear them in the kitchen,” Isa told The Dodo.
One afternoon, Isa stepped into the bathroom and heard the familiar sound again.
This time, it was directly beside her. She stayed still and listened.
Then she noticed movement near the wall. A tiny hand slid out through a thin opening in the paneling.
Small claws twitched for a moment before pulling back into the darkness. Isa stared in disbelief, her pulse racing as she tried to understand what she had witnessed.
She quickly grabbed her phone and began recording. She wanted proof of the mysterious visitor hiding inside their walls.
When she showed her family the video, their fear shifted into confusion and then amusement. The supposed ghost inside their home turned out to be a curious raccoon exploring the tight spaces around the house.
A Hidden Raccoon Family
When animal control arrived, they found more than one guest tucked inside the home. An entire family of raccoons had settled in the crawlspace.
The animals were relocated safely, but Isa’s family chose to leave a small opening in case the furry visitors ever returned.
