Kami’s second chance should have been simple. The sweet Doberman puppy had been bought from a breeder, then adopted by someone who seemed ready to give her the kind of loving home every dog deserves.
For a few brief days, she knew what it felt like to belong somewhere warm and safe. Then everything changed.
Her new owner surrendered her to the Doberman Rescue League, Inc. in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, leaving Kami to make sense of another sudden goodbye.
After such a short taste of home, the little puppy arrived at the rescue confused, uncertain, and unsure what would happen to her next.
A New Hope For A Fresh Start
The staff at the rescue quickly fell in love with Kami. Not only was she a stunning puppy, but her delightful personality also captured their hearts.
The team at the Doberman Rescue League was determined to find her the family she truly deserved. They posted on Facebook, announcing that Kami was available for adoption.
Meanwhile, a Florida couple was searching for a companion for their Doberman, Axel. When they came across Kami, they were immediately smitten and knew they wanted to bring her into their home.
The couple applied to adopt her and arranged a meet-and-greet, bringing Axel along. From the moment they met, Axel and Kami hit it off. They quickly began playing together, and it was clear how happy Axel was in her company.
The couple knew right away that they had found the right fit and decided to adopt her.
They named her Karmaa and welcomed her into their family. As Axel had been their only dog before, he needed time to adjust to sharing his space with his new little sister. However, once he got used to her presence, a strong bond formed between them. Axel missed Karmaa when she wasn’t around.
A Joyful New Life
Karmaa was overjoyed with her new life. She looked up to Axel as her role model and was thrilled to have him by her side. The two became inseparable, spending countless happy hours together.
They loved taking car rides, playing at the park, and even going to the beach for sunrise walks. The neighborhood kids adored them and often gave them treats when they crossed paths.
Karmaa’s story also captured the hearts of many on social media. Her dad, Jonathan Palermo, shared her journey on Instagram, where it quickly gained widespread attention. People were delighted to see the special bond between Karmaa and Axel.
“Such a beautiful pup, she looks very happy. Thank you for saving her best life,” one follower wrote.
“Awww … she is adorable, he is a very lucky big brother,” the other added.
The Florida family feels incredibly fortunate to have found Karmaa.
“Watching their bond grow has been such a gift. If anything, our only regret is not giving Axel a companion sooner. Having Karma has completed our family and given Axel his best friend,” Palermo said in an interview.
