Every caring dog owner wants their pup to feel happy, healthy, and comfortable. That means good food, a cozy place to sleep, regular visits to the vet, and yes, proper grooming too. Grooming is not just about looking cute for photos, though that certainly does not hurt. It also helps keep dogs comfortable and can prevent all kinds of problems.
Still, grooming is not always as simple as it sounds. Every breed comes with its own needs, and the style that works beautifully for one dog might be completely wrong for another.
Unfortunately, one well-intentioned mom in Miami, Florida, found that out in the most stressful way when she offered to take her daughter’s dog to the groomer as a favor.
What she thought would be an easy, helpful errand quickly turned into an emotional surprise that left her daughter in tears.
An Unexpected Makeover
Jax had been part of the Serret family since he was a puppy. Over the years, he grew into a handsome seven-year-old Pembroke Welsh Corgi, adored by everyone who met him.
Adriana Serret, Jax’s owner, was especially proud of his thick, fluffy coat and charming personality. Her mom loved him too and only wanted to help when she noticed the Miami heat making him uncomfortable.
Thinking she was doing a good thing, she took Jax to a local groomer for a “light trim.”
But there was one major problem: Corgis should never have their coats shaved short. Unfortunately, Adriana’s mom didn’t know that.
When she arrived to pick Jax up, she was shocked. The little dog looked completely different, almost unrecognizable.
“My mom wanted to trim his hair a bit because it was really hot. There must’ve been a misunderstanding between the groomer and my mom, and that’s how we got him back. I was devastated because you’re not supposed to cut corgis’ hairs,” Adriana said in an interview.
Wanting to share the unbelievable transformation, Adriana posted a video on TikTok under her handle @adrianaserret.
The clip showed Jax before and after the grooming session, with the caption: “When my mom took our corgi to the groomer for a ‘trim’… And this is how he came back.”
“I legit cried LMAO,” she added, perfectly capturing the mix of shock and disbelief.
The video quickly went viral, gaining thousands of views and sparking a flood of reactions from dog lovers worldwide.
One viewer wrote, “I’m really gullible. Are you sure this is the same dog?😭 Who would do such a thing?”

Fluff Restored
Although the incident was initially heartbreaking, Adriana soon shared some good news for everyone concerned about Jax’s transformation.
“His hair started growing back a few weeks later and he was back to his normal self four months later,” she said.
It took a bit of time, but Jax’s fluffy Corgi coat eventually returned, along with his signature fox-like charm.
What started as a well-meaning favor ended as a funny, unforgettable experience for Adriana and her family. While Jax temporarily looked like a different breed, he remained the same sweet, happy dog they adored.
For Adriana, it served as an important reminder that when it comes to grooming, it’s always best to double-check before the clippers come out.
