Puppies come into the world expecting kindness and love. They need our warmth and care.
Unfortunately, some furbabies are betrayed and mistreated. Their heartless owners steal the right to be happy, and the puppies feel confused and sad.
Instead of enjoying life, they endure hardships.
Drummy was one of those little souls who suffered.
On a cold night, careless people placed him in a box and dumped him in a bathroom at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Missouri.
Drummy was frightened and he couldn’t stop shaking.
A Heartbreaking Discovery

Fortunately, a KFC worker found the puppy in the bathroom and reached out to Stray Rescue of St. Louis.
Donna Lochmann, one of the rescuers, headed to the scene.
Once she arrived, her heart sank when she saw the emaciated pup curled inside a cardboard box. He was so cold and malnourished that he could barely lift his head.
Lochmann talked to the puppy, later named Drummy, in a gentle voice and reassured him that everything would be alright.
She rushed him to the shelter’s clinic for an examination.

It was clear that Drummy had suffered terribly. His body temperature had dropped to 95 degrees. He was dehydrated and too weak to stand on his paws.
Every effort he made left him collapsing again.
The team was relieved to learn he didn’t have Parvo, but he needed urgent care.

His rescuers made him a promise.
“We’ll get him healthy. His suffering is over. Nothing but cuddles from this day forward. You’re safe now,” Stray Rescue of St. Louis wrote on Facebook.
Drummy was placed on a careful feeding plan to prevent his body from shutting down.
The vet team gave him fluids and antibiotics. They stayed by his side and cheered him on.
The pup looked at them with his adorable eyes filled with gratitude.
A New Beginning for Drummy

When Drummy was finally strong enough to leave the clinic, he moved to a foster home. His foster family took wonderful care of him and made him feel safe.
Although he went through an ordeal, he still wanted to be close to humans.

He curled up on soft blankets and loved wearing his little jammies to stay warm.
His foster parents showered him with love, giving him the comfort he had been denied for so long.
During the first days in a foster home, Drummy slept a lot. He needed to regain his strength.
Little by little, he started feeling better. He wagged his tail more often and his eyes became brighter.

The sweet pup’s disposition started emerging.
“He’s gaining energy and his personality is beginning to shine! He’s such a nice little boy and we can’t wait to see him get healthy!” Stray Rescue of St. Louis shared in an update.
Drummy’s foster family quickly became attached to him.
“His foster parents are obsessed, so we have a feeling he’s already home,” the rescue added.
Drummy’s happiest days are ahead of him. His past will never define him again. From now on, his days will be filled with the unconditional love he always needed. He will never be alone again.
