California Rescuer Tracks A Hidden Pup On A Lonely Hill And Uncovers A Life-Threatening Situation

It saddens me to think about the many stray dogs who sleep on cold streets and dream of a better future.

The hope of finding safety and unconditional love is what helps them keep going even when their situation seems helpless.

A tiny black-and-tan puppy in Southern California held onto the same hope. He curled up on a hill near a bridge. Hidden from the world, he was trying his best to survive.

The pup felt lonely and sad. He stayed in his spot on the hill, as if he was waiting for someone.

The puppy lived under a small tree that didn’t offer enough cover to keep him safe.

There was a wash near his hiding spot, but most people walked past him without realizing he was there.

Fortunately, a Good Samaritan noticed him and reached out for help right away.

Suzette Hall, founder of Logan’s Legacy 29, was heartbroken when she learned where the pup was hiding.

“This area is filled with coyotes, and the nights are getting so cold. My heart completely sank when I heard. I knew I had to go. I had to drive up there,” Hall wrote in a Facebook post.

She rushed to the area, worried that the dog might not survive much longer.

When she arrived at the location, she saw the frightened little body huddled on the ground.

She wondered for how long he had been living on his own. He only had that small tree to shield him from the world.

The Rescue And A New Beginning

Hall’s friends joined her that evening. Becks kept watch over the pup while Ang brought warm food to feed the pup and help him calm down.

Although the puppy was scared, he seemed ready to accept help and leave his spot for good. He longed for human companionship and love.

Hall set a trap with food, hoping that the delicious scent would lure the pup to the crate.

She was right. The doggo was too hungry, and within minutes, he stepped inside.

He put his fear aside and decided to trust his rescuers.

When the door clicked shut, Hall and her friends let out a sigh of relief. The little dog would not have to spend another night alone on the hill. His life was about to change.

Hall carried him to her van and drove him to Camino Pet Hospital for a complete checkup.

The pup wasn’t scared anymore. He felt that he could trust his rescuers and he was calm.

Hall was relieved because the pup was brought to safety.

“I can’t imagine what would have happened if he’d spent even one more night out there. Who knows how long he’d been hiding, waiting, hoping,” Hall added.

The pup who lived on a hill, enduring loneliness and cold, now has a chance to heal, and feel safe again.
