Pup Still Waiting After 300 Days At Washington Shelter Hopes Her Family Finally Shows Up

Some shelter dogs have the ability to touch your heart without making any sound, and Mommas is definitely one of them. She didn’t bark, jump, or beg for attention. She simply sat in her kennel quietly, hoping someone might finally look her way.

Just one look at her posture said it all. Mommas looked like she’d been practicing being good for more than 300 days. And the reality is, she’s way better than good. She’s a total sweetheart, and her recent video at the Washington shelter broke everyone’s hearts.

Julie Saraceno recently posted a truly emotional video of Mommas in her kennel. It involved Mommas, a three-year-old Shepherd mix, sitting all alone in her tiny kennel.

Saraceno, whose friends (and Mommas’ previous caregivers) had asked her to check on the dog, immediately rushed to Benton Franklin Humane Society. The minute Saraceno saw her sitting patiently in her kennel, she knew she had to share her story on social media.

In the now-viral Instagram video she posted, the text reads:

“Patiently waiting for someone to see how amazing she is and take her home. This is Mommas and she’s adoptable at the Benton Franklin Humane Society in Kennewick, Washington.”

Before arriving at BFHS, Mommas was at Tri-Cities Animal Shelter in Pasco, Washington, with her nine babies. After all of them got adopted into new homes, she was left all alone, completely overlooked by potential adopters.

Fortunately, the crew at the Benton Franklin Humane Society gave her a fresh chance at being seen. So far, Mommas has spent more than 300 days without a home, and it’s slowly taking a toll on her.

While she’s potty-trained and thrives when she’s let out, the loud shelter environment does not do any good to this sweet girl.

In the past, Mommas has chewed up bedding and a few toys in her kennel out of boredom. However, the staff believes this habit will stop once she has real freedom.

Playful, Quirky, And Adorable

Mommas is an amazing dog, and her Petfinder profile says it best:

“Hi there, I’m a bit quirky and looking for someone to love me for who I am. I have brains, an eagerness to please, an adorable face, and a soft spot for squeaky toys and ear scratches.”

She’s playful, enthusiastic, loves to be mentally stimulated, and definitely perfect for an active family. What she needs is a clear routine and structure, as well as someone who will dedicate their time to helping Mommas learn all about being a dog again.

Hopefully, her new family will see her not as just another shelter dog, but as the loving, playful companion she truly is. After everything she’d survived, Mommas deserves to be happy!
