New York Rescuers Spotted An Animal On A Tree With Something Odd Stuck On Its Head

You know, it’s not too often that rescuers come across something odd in nature or in their rural part of the world.

I have seen bears coming into small towns looking for food or even ending up in people’s pools or swings for some reason.

Strange things like this can happen and they’re always funny to witness, but sometimes animals end up in trouble this way and we might need to help them.

When these New York rescuers spotted a mysterious animal at the top of a tree, they were shocked to learn it had something on its head.

A Jar Of Peanut Butter?

Not too long ago, a rescuer from Rockland Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation (RWRR), received a call and a homeowner told him there was a mysterious animal near his home in a tree.

The shocking part is that the animal had a peanut butter jar on its head. The resident pleaded with the rescuers to come and help the poor animal, so they responded immediately.

The rescuers Andres and Jamie Alves arrived and were the first to respond, and they looked up the tree only to see that the animal really did have a jar stuck on its head.

So they began assessing the situation and trying to come up with a reasonable solution. The animal was a raccoon and getting it to come down from the tree was not going to be easy.

Andres told The Dodo: “I approached very slowly and purposefully so as not to scare the raccoon. They didn’t move at all, poor little one.

The New York rescuer got up the tree vigilantly and he tried to grab the raccoon, but it was not easy from his position.

The Raccoon Was Finally Saved

Andres continued: “I knew that it would be much less… safe for me to climb any higher. I very quickly grabbed the jar, and the raccoon pulled back and separated from it!

Now that the raccoon was finally able to catch a breath, the rescuers could just tell that it felt relieved. It was doing just fine, and once the animal was now down from the tree, it ran back to its natural habitat.

Andres and Jamie thanked the homeowner for calling them. If it had happened any later, who knows what could have happened to the animal?

In order to prevent accidents like this, most animal experts recommend rinsing the jars and cans before discarding them in the trash.

Also, it’s necessary to make sure that all the trash cans and garbage bins are safely closed, so that the animals can’t get inside.

Because the rescuers acted fast in this situation, the raccoon was saved and the rescuers were so glad that the poor animal got another chance.
