She lived in a home for three months. A bed, a window she could rest beside, someone to speak her name. Then it ended, and the sweet dog found herself back where she started.
It could have changed her. But it hasn’t. She greets each new day with the same quiet eagerness: tail gentle, eyes open, body ready for the knock on the door that means someone wants to try again.
In the kennels of the New York shelter, she still presses herself gently toward the gate when someone comes near. She hasn’t forgotten what a home looks like.
Her story now isn’t about loss; it’s about waiting with purpose, because she believes someone will come back and say: “This time I’m here to stay.”
Her Story Is Not Over Yet

Despite finding a home, Aurora Mist didn’t get the ending she deserved. The rescuers hoped that she was going to be taken care of for the rest of her life.
However, fate would have other plans, because the dog was surrendered to the shelter after just three months, and the New York rescuers were baffled.
They couldn’t understand why, but that didn’t matter anymore. They just wanted to help her feel comfortable again. They didn’t want her to get depressed.
Kennel life in the shelter can make any dog feel stressed, so her rescuers did their best to help her feel better.

Despite all the stress, Aurora Mist is still a well-behaved and sweet dog who just wants to find a family that will cherish her.
Her previous owners told them that they got along with her despite what happened, so there is no doubt that she would do well anywhere.
The rescuers believe that her breed or size might deter some potential owners from adopting, but they are doing what they can to mitigate that. Hopefully, Aurora Mist will find a new home soon.
Reactions From Facebook Community

When the rescuers from Boroughbred in Brooklyn posted Aurora Mist’s story, they were hoping that this outreach would maybe help her get adopted. The video got a lot of attention.
One person commented: “She’s a beautiful girl! Aurora Mist I truly pray you are seen! You get loved!! And you are adopted!!! Rescues, Fosters, Fosters to adopt, pledges and Adoptions SAVES LIVES! Please save hers!”
I am really glad to see this kind of response from people, because it shows just how much people care about dogs.
Another person said: “Awe sweet girl. I hope you get the forever home you deserve quickly.”

Considering how many people are seeing her story, I believe that it’s only a matter of time before she gets a second chance.
Lastly, somebody commented: “If you live in the area or community where this sweet furbaby is please go by and see what you are missing out on. Adopt from your local shelter and rescue where you live. Donations help the animals with shelter, food, medical supplies, power and veterinary care and services and more importantly for the animals. Volunteers and foster families are loved by the animals.”
I agree with this. Shelters need help from the local communities and any help is welcome, no matter how small it may seem.
Even reposting a story about Aurora Mist might help her find someone special. You never really know.
