So when a Los Angeles family noticed their seven-month-old Bernese Mountain Dog puppy, Luna, suddenly becoming ill, they immediately grew worried.
Luna began vomiting, and her stomach appeared swollen and unusually firm. Alarmed by her condition, her owners didn’t hesitate. They rushed her to the Corona Animal Emergency Center in Corona, California, hoping the veterinarians could help their puppy before it was too late.
They couldn’t have imagined what the X-rays would reveal once they arrived.
A Startling Discovery At The Vet
At the clinic, the veterinary team performed a full examination on Luna to determine the cause of her symptoms.
An X-ray soon revealed something completely unexpected. Luna’s stomach was packed with foreign objects, and her intestines were severely blocked.
The situation was critical, so the doctors immediately prepared her for emergency surgery. During the procedure, the veterinary surgeon carefully removed each item that was clogging her digestive tract.
Among the pile of objects were socks, hair ties, fabric pieces, and even a small onesie lodged deep in her intestines.
The staff was stunned by what they found.
“What we found was jaw-dropping: 24 socks, one scrunchie, two hair ties, one shoe insert, one small onesie (from her intestines!) and miscellaneous cloth pieces,” the hospital wrote on Instagram.
The clinic later posted X-ray images alongside a picture of the veterinarian posing with the incredible assortment of items removed from Luna’s stomach.
Thankfully, the operation went perfectly. Luna’s life was saved, and she was already showing signs of feeling like her happy, playful self again.
A Lesson For Pet Owners
After surgery, Luna began recovering well. She now wears a protective cone to prevent her from licking her stitches, and her family says her tail hasn’t stopped wagging since she came home.
The Corona Animal Emergency Center shared Luna’s case as an important reminder for all dog owners.
“Luna’s story is a reminder to trust your instincts. If you notice vomiting, lethargy, or a firm abdomen, don’t wait — act fast and contact your vet. Prevention is key, but we’re here for emergencies 24/7,” the clinic added.
Luna’s family was shaken by the ordeal but grateful for the quick action that saved her life. They’ve already taken extra precautions at home, keeping laundry and small items out of reach and closely supervising her playtime.
With the worst behind her, Luna continues to heal, surrounded by love and attention. Her family hopes that her story will encourage other pet owners to stay alert and act fast when something feels off.
