Some dogs dig holes all over the yard. Others sneak around the house, stashing away their treats. Many slip them beneath the sofa. And then there is Rocky.
Rocky isn’t especially interested in food or snacks. He’s a picky eater, not very driven by treats.
Whenever he isn’t hungry but still receives a bone, Rocky hides it. Unlike most dogs, he doesn’t go for the typical hiding places. His choice is unusual and odd.
Out of all the corners in the house and all the dirt in the yard, Rocky picked the single most obvious place to tuck away his bones, even though it doesn’t really hide them at all.
So where did Rocky decide to hide his bone? Is it really that obvious?
Rocky’s Hiding Spot Is So Obvious It’s Genius (Or Not)

Rocky is a Dachshund puppy. Anyone who knows the breed understands their powerful prey drive. Dachshunds were bred to hunt, and their survival instincts are still strong.
Though centuries have passed since Dachshunds were first created, that instinct remains, and Rocky is living proof.
This Florida-based miniature Dachshund was just a pup when Michelle Vachs and her fiancé adopted him. They always dreamed of having a dog, and they fell for Rocky instantly.
“We looked into all the dog breeds and decided we wanted a miniature dachshund. We searched on the internet for good breeders and found one in California. We fell in love with the picture of him right away,” said Michelle for Newsweek.
She added that life with Rocky has been wonderful. He’s playful, loves fetch, digging, and cuddles. He’s also a little velcro pup, never wanting to leave his humans’ side.
But when it comes to hiding treats, Rocky might be the worst in the world, because his chosen hiding spot is the blanket right beneath him.
“Rocky is a really picky eater and he only eats when he is hungry. At first we had to get used to it but since we now know what he likes and the schedule when he is hungry, it’s not a problem anymore… He wanted to save it (bone) for later and protect it from us so we wouldn’t take it away,” finishes Michelle.
We know this thanks to a TikTok video Michelle shared, showing Rocky in his frantic bone-hiding routine.
Rocky believed saving his bone for later was clever, and the blanket was the perfect hiding spot. He thought no one would find it, not even by smell.
Sometimes the most obvious place is the last one you check. If Michelle had been looking for the bone, the blanket might have been the final spot she searched.

Maybe next time, Rocky, just leave it on the bed. They might walk right past without noticing.
Rocky loves his bones, but it’s important to be cautious when offering bones of any type. Chicken bones, for example, are especially dangerous because they splinter and can injure dogs.
Advanced Care Animal Clinic notes that while bones may provide some minerals and stimulate saliva, they are far from necessary. The risks include broken teeth, gum injuries, constipation, choking, and other serious problems.
It turns out Rocky’s picky eating and tendency to stash away his bones may actually be a blessing.
Rocky Takes Over TikTok One Blanket At A Time

Rocky’s family delivers a daily supply of cute and funny Dachshund content, and they never disappoint.
Rocky and his parents also run an Instagram account, giving fans a chance to enjoy endless videos and stories of his adventures.
Through social media, Michelle and Rocky share their travel experiences. Rocky is even a seasoned world traveler, flying across the ocean multiple times and getting used to airplane life.
This little Dachshund is calm, happy, and ready for whatever his family has planned.
Everything, that is, except for the bone tucked away in his beloved grey blanket.
