Dogs are very good at guilt-tripping their owners. I think they feel no shame in knowing that they are doing that to us.
Whenever they see us being emotional on their behalf, they can and probably will use that opportunity to ask for more treats.
They know that it will work, no matter what, so why not do it? I admit I would fall for this emotional manipulation as well.
This owner from Colorado noticed something odd about her dog, so she took her to the vet, only to be surprised by what her dog requested later.
The Pup Was Choking

It was an ordinary evening for owner Sam when she was just hanging out with her dogs, so she decided to give them some food.
She threw a piece of vegetables and fruit at them. Sam usually throws only smaller pieces because she knows that her pup, Nina, can’t eat big pieces of food.
However, Nina snagged the bigger piece of fruit that was supposed to go to the other dog and Sam could immediately tell that something was wrong.
The senior dog was starting to choke on it, so her owner rushed her to a veterinary clinic in Colorado immediately. Sam’s sister tried to loosen Nina’s breathing while they were driving to the vet and it helped.

Shortly after, they arrived at the clinic and the veterinarians took care of the problem. They did end up discovering that she had swollen lymph nodes and would likely need more tests.
Until the results come back, Nina is free to go home. Shortly after they arrived, the dog saw how worried her mom was and immediately took the chance to ask for more food.
This made Sam laugh a bit because it showed how high-spirited Nina was and how this whole situation didn’t faze her even one bit.
Internet Reactions

After posting the story about Nina’s incident on TikTok, many people shared their thoughts and some of the replies were just hilarious.
One person commented: “Dog is like take me for a walk or I’ll take you on a walk.”
Well, with how she was standing, it was almost impossible to tell what her intentions were. It didn’t seem like she meant well.
Another person said: “Same. i drove my dog to the er for bloating and possible GDV. it resolved when we got there and he wanted treats at the er.”

Ah, treats and taking walks. They are the two most important things to dogs. No matter what the situation, they are always in the mood for more treats.
Lastly, somebody commented: “Why is he standing like he’s gonna beat me up.”
Well, it doesn’t look like she’s asking for food… she’s demanding it, and she will go to great lengths to get it.
Nevertheless, it’s interesting to see how something positive came out of this scary incident and it’s once again a reminder of how dogs will always try to make the best out of a bad situation. We should be more like them.
