It’s hard to imagine that a wonderful dog like Deja never experienced true love and the sense of belonging to a family.
When she arrived at the Patty Baker Humane Society Naples, Florida, after her transfer from Gulf Coast Humane, it didn’t take long for her to win everyone over.
With her stunning looks and affectionate nature, the staff thought she would find her happy ending very soon.
Sadly, days turned into weeks, weeks into months, and before long, three years had passed and Deja was passed over for far too long.
The pup watched the other shelter residents find homes while she remained waiting, huddled in her kennel.
Deja Remains Hopeful
The staff couldn’t understand why the delightful dog kept getting overlooked by the potential adopters for so long.
Deja was confused too, yet, she remained the same sweet dog who showered her shelter friends with love.
Patrizia Vila, the events and outreach coordinator at Patty Baker Humane Society Naples, told The Dodo, “Despite nearly three years of waiting, she remains full of love and joy, always eager to meet new human friends.”
The senior dog doesn’t let her hope fade.
The seven-year-old dog keeps waiting patiently day after day, hoping that someone will finally choose her and take her home. It’s what she wants more than anything else in the world.
Whenever she feels lonely, the doggo curls up on her little bed in her kennel, wishing that she wouldn’t have to wait for much longer.
When she first meets new people, Deja can be timid and reserved. However, once you win her trust, she warms up to you and transforms into a love bug.
Although she adapted well to life in the shelter, Deja’s true personality emerges only when she spends time around people.
Hoping To Finally Find True Love
She is full of love and can’t wait to give it to her family.
Deja doesn’t need much to be happy. She dreams of meeting her humans who will adore her and make her feel cherished.
The doggo can be both a couch potato and an ideal adventure companion.
“Her dream home would be with a loving family, in a house with a yard, where she could be their TV-watching buddy one moment and their wrestling partner the next…,” Stephanie Lewis, COO of the Florida shelter, told The Dodo.
She would do best as the only dog in the household, where she can soak up all the love her family gives her.
Just like Deja’s shelter friends, we’re sure that the lovely dog will soon find her perfect match. After waiting for so long to get adopted, the senior dog deserves to live a life filled with love and comfort.
