Raider isn’t your everyday pup. Beyond her irresistible charm, she plays an important role in her community as a talented narcotics detection dog.

Her connection with Officer Ritchey runs deep. More than just coworkers, the pair have built an incredible friendship based on trust and respect.
“We have a strong bond, and I think that the stronger bond you have the better the work relationship that you have,” Officer Ritchey told The Dodo.
Considering the intensity of his job, Raider plays a vital role beyond law enforcement — she’s also his source of comfort on tough days.
“You see tragic accidents, you see people who are going through the worst times of their life. You get in the car, and I’ll just call Raider to come up here. And just like what she’s doing right now… these kisses make everything better,” he said.
Not Just A Duo — A Whole Pack
Raider and Officer Ritchey aren’t alone in their adventures. They’re often joined by K-9 Maddis, another furry team member who’s always up for a good time.
The moment Raider met Maddis, there was an instant spark.
“I remember the first time Raider and Maddis met, they started sniffing noses, and her tail was going a hundred miles an hour. Typically, a lot of police dogs don’t get along, but they have a good relationship. And they do play. We will throw the ball and it’s a really cool thing to see,” he added.
Whether it’s chasing suspects or relaxing at home, Raider is by Officer Ritchey’s side through it all. Maddis has quickly become part of the family too, adding more joy to their dynamic lives.
Together, they make a heartwarming trio whose teamwork and love shine just as brightly as their dedication to service.
“Raider really makes this job so much better, to be able to have my best friend with me at work,” concludes Officer Ritchey.
