You move in for a closer look and suddenly realize exactly what you’re seeing.
That’s what Sergeant Brett Claxon experienced while working as a Highway Patrol Officer in Ohio. He was doing his regular patrol when something unexpected appeared.
A Closer Look Reveals The Truth
Once Claxon noticed the animal attempting to cross the busy road, he quickly drove closer. That’s when the reality set in.
A dog was casually walking across the lanes, seemingly unaware of the danger surrounding him. Thankfully, Claxon was nearby and acted immediately, calling out to him.
Though the pup appeared a bit unsure at first, he heard the officer and looked toward him with a confused expression, unsure of what was happening or where to go.
Fortunately, the dog made the right choice and began walking toward Claxon after hearing his voice.
The officer, now up close, saw that the dog wasn’t hurt and appeared to be in good shape.
Seeing how clean and well-fed he looked, Claxon guessed the pup likely belonged to someone and had somehow gotten separated.
Finding The Pup’s Story
Not wanting to waste any time, Claxon guided the dog to his vehicle, hoping to determine whether he had a home. There was a strong chance he was lost.
However, the pup had a different plan. He walked straight over to the driver’s side, climbing in like he’d done it many times before.
Claxon let him enjoy the moment, but then gently urged him to move to the back seat. The dog cooperated without issue.
Claxon then shared the dog’s photo and story online, and it wasn’t long before answers surfaced. The pup had indeed gone missing in Ohio, though no one knew exactly how.
What mattered most was that he was found safe and returned to his owner soon after Claxon picked him up on the road. That moment brought a big sense of relief.
Because of this officer’s quick thinking, the dog avoided serious harm and made it home where he belongs.
