Just like humans, dogs can’t hide the profound sadness that lies in their soul. Their eyes tell you everything about their emotions.
Willy, a hero of today’s story, has some of the saddest eyes I’ve ever seen.
One day, the gorgeous pup shocked the busy California neighborhood when he peeked out of a wheelbarrow. The neighbors had never seen him before but they could tell that the wheelbarrow was his safe place.
He refused to leave the cart and he fixed his wistful gaze into the distance, waiting for the people whom he considered his family.
You Deserve The World, Willy
The neighbors offered him food and tried to lure him out of the wheelbarrow, but Willy would always return.
The cart filled with flower pots represented a glimmer of hope that his people would come back for him and take him home.
Leaving the wheelbarrow would mean giving up on his people and Willy didn’t want to let go.
“The neighbors did their best. They brought him food, left out water, even tried to give him comfort. But no matter what, he always returned to that wheelbarrow. It became his safe place … the only place he could watch and wait, hoping his people would come back,” Hall wrote in a Facebook post.
Unfortunately, Willy waited for days and his family never returned.
As soon as Suzette Hall, the founder of Logan’s Legacy 29, a rescue in California, heard about the betrayed pup, her heart broke and she rushed to save him.
The experienced rescuer didn’t know who abandoned him or why of all places he decided to wait in the wheelbarrow. However, she knew one thing for sure. Willy deserved better.
“We don’t know who left him or why, but we do know one thing — he deserved better. And today, he finally got it,” Hall added.
No More Sadness
Hall gently lifted the pup from the wheelbarrow and took him to her car. Willy felt relieved because someone came for him after all. The sadness vanished from his eyes. When he smiled from ear to ear, he looked like a completely different dog.
“He was so happy to be rescued,” Hall told The Dodo.
The rescuer brought him to Camino Pet Hospital. Once he was medically cleared, Willy was placed into a loving foster home.
Thanks to the wonderful care of his fosters, Willy has been thriving. He doesn’t wait anymore for the people who kicked him out of their lives.
Although Willy has the time of his life in his foster home, Hall can’t wait to see him find a permanent home. After the ordeal he went through, he deserves to find a family who will cherish him every single day.
