Hopeless and defeated, a doggo stood on the street all alone. Since he was injured and unable to use his back legs due to pain, he felt helpless.
The sadness the dog felt was reflected in his gorgeous eyes.
Just when he thought that all hope was gone, something amazing happened.
The rescuers at Stray Rescue of St. Louis, a rescue in Missouri, were driving around the neighborhood when they spotted the frightened dog. The moment the team noticed that he was hunched up, they knew that something was wrong.
The pup, later named Guillermo de la Cruz, gazed at them with his sad puppy eyes as if he were asking them to take him somewhere safe.
You’re Safe Now
As soon as they saw him, the rescue team pulled over and rushed to his side.
Although Guillermo de la Cruz was terrified, he was unable to run away due to his injuries.
The rescuer, Donna Lochmann, approached him, offered him words of comfort, and gently placed a leash around his neck.
While the rescuers were carrying him to the car, Guillermo de la Cruz felt anxious.
However, as soon as the team placed him in the seat, the dog sensed that he was safe and he calmed down.
“[A]s soon as he realized he was safe in the car, he relaxed. You are safe, you big, sweet angel,” Stray Rescue of St. Louis wrote in a Facebook post.
The team drove Guillermo de la Cruz to the rescue’s headquarters, where he was received with open arms.
Upon his arrival, the pup received a medical examination.
The staff gave him constant care and made sure he ate a healthy diet, which would help him gain weight.
Thanks to the exceptional care the staff pampered him with and the immense love they showed him, Guillermo de la Cruz made a complete recovery and flourished into a healthy chunky pup.
The doggo became such a stunner that he attracted attention wherever he went.
“Guillermo de la Cruz is a show-stopper wherever he goes! This choco chonk of a baby doll boy has permanent puppy eyes and a record-breaking-sized noggin,” the rescue shared on Facebook.
The Dog’s Dreams Came True
The dog didn’t only make a remarkable physical transformation, but he also healed his emotional wounds and overcame his fears. Guillermo de la Cruz showed his loving disposition, capturing the hearts of everyone he met.
Once the amazing pup started looking for a permanent home, he didn’t have to wait long.
After spending a wonderful time with his foster family, Guillermo de la Cruz met his forever family, who couldn’t wait to shower him with love.
Now called Archie, he started the best chapter of his life and learned the meaning of true love.
“He now has two fur brothers (Jax [and] Flex), a fur sister (Lucy), and a mom and dad who are totally nuts about him,” the Missouri rescue wrote in a Facebook update.
