Missouri Volunteer Comes Across A Mysterious Taped Up Box With A Note And Makes A Harrowing Discovery

A volunteer at Stray Rescue of St. Louis, a shelter in Missouri, was taking a shelter dog for a walk when they noticed something that made their heart sink – a mysterious taped-up box near the shelter.

The volunteer rushed to examine it, fearing that there was something in need of help inside the box.

Once they moved closer, the staff member spotted a handwritten note, which was placed on top.

When they read it, they felt heartbroken and rushed to open the box, knowing that there was no time to waste.

Saving Two Lives

The note said that the box contained two strays, and the kind-hearted volunteer hoped that they had found them in time.

“Found [two] strays. They are about 4-5 months old. Sorry for just dropping them off, but I can’t keep them due to my apartment not allowing pets,” the note, shared on the shelter’s Facebook, read.

Since the box was sealed shut, the volunteer was terribly worried for the wellbeing of the creatures inside.

“The box was taped up so tightly that we rushed them inside and opened it as quickly as we could, worried that whoever was inside would have suffocated,” Natalie Thomson, the shelter’s chief communications officer, told The Dodo.

Once the staff member unsealed the box, the cats popped up. Fortunately, they seemed to be healthy, and they couldn’t wait to get out of the box.

The cats were relieved to breathe in some fresh air and meet their rescuer. From the very beginning, they were adorable, friendly, and calm despite the traumatic event they experienced.

The vet team at the shelter gave them a medical checkup.

The cats were estimated to be around seven months old and in excellent health. They were lovingly named Amazon and Prime, a nod to the cardboard box they arrived in.

Hoping To Find A Place To Call Home

The shelter staff wished the sweet cats had never gone through such an ordeal, and they are happy that they were found in time.

The Missouri shelter started looking for a foster family who could take them in.

Luckily, an amazing foster arrived at the shelter and offered to give them a temporary home.

The cats were excited to leave the shelter and move in with their foster family.

For Amazon and Prime, living in a home was a totally new experience for them, and they absolutely loved it.

The delightful cats receive a lot of love from their foster family. They are getting used to being indoor cats and discovering how beautiful life can be.

Both cats can’t wait to leave their past behind, and they have started looking for a permanent home.

Hopefully, they will soon find forever humans who will shower them with endless love and make them happy.
